What a surprise...

Quote from: Romanticlover on Nov 09, 2022, 03:46 PMLooks like Republicans will retake the Senate and the House by a slim margin.
The real win for Republicans were in the governor races, Beta O'Rourke got his ass kicked for a third time in Texas.
Last night you posted (and then deleted) something like "the Red Wave is underway across the nation." Having failed to learn from that, you're once again counting chickens before they've hatched. We don't yet know the final outcomes.

And, not surprisingly, you're wrong about the gubernatorial contests as well. According to the AP, the Democrats have gained 2 seats in those races so far.

People and corporations donated nearly $200 million to Beto O'Rourke and over $100 million to Stacey Abrams for their failed runs at getting elected, that money would of been better used by charities helping the needy.

Donating money to them is like loaning money to a drug addict...it's a bad idea and you will never get your money back.

I think I heard on the news someone spent $100M for the LA mayor's race!  That's crazy!

  • WASHINGTON, Aug 9 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday tried to turn the news that the FBI had searched his Florida estate to his benefit, citing the investigation in text messages and emails soliciting political donations from his supporters.

  • Former President Donald Trump pleaded with his supporters Tuesday to donate to a potential 2024 reelection bid — using Monday's FBI raid at his Mar-a-Lago resort to urge "every single red-blooded American Patriot to step up during this time."

  • Millions of dollars spent combating these charges have come from Mr Trump's Save America political action committee (PAC) - which takes donations from Trump supporters across the country - Federal Election Commission (FEC) filings show. Save America has paid more than $1.12m this year alone to law firms hired to defend Mr Trump in the New York case. As a so-called "Leadership PAC", it can use money to pay for expenses that cannot be funded by campaign committees, such as some personal travel or some leadership expenses.

Anyone who donates money to any politician(including Trump) is a fool, I've never donated and I never will.

The ability to raise campaign donations is a key factor in getting elected. So, if you are committed to a particular political agenda/policy, then it is through donations that support a candidate that align with you. Keep your money in your pocket and let others determine who you get to vote for.

Just like all investments, some are foolish and some are wise.

I've never donated money to any politician either.  Screw them.   Most are rich or have super rich donors.  Why do they need me?
I've mostly donated to cure disease efforts, especially if a friend is doing a walk-a-thon, bike-a-thon, etc for it.
Gave some to help decrim prostitution in CA.
