Ray Guy was the greatest punter who ever lived and the standard by which all punters are forever judged.
First and only punter inducted into the Hall of Fame.

After a lengthy illness, Guy died on November 3, 2022, in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, at age 72.
The cause was advanced-stage chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

At the Coliseum in the mid 70s, Raiders vs Bucs game, I watched Ray Guy launch punt after punt above the rim of the stadium. VERY impressive from my near field level seat at the 50 yard line. Great 12th birthday present from Dad.

I believe it was because of him they began to record "hang time"
