Numerically speaking the Democrats are in the minority in the US senate.
There are 47 Democrats and 49 Republicans.
There are 4 independents that usually vote with the Democrats.
(Sinema of AZ switched from Democrat to Independent yesterday.)

Sinema holds seats on the Senate Banking Committee, Commerce Committee, Homeland Security Committee and Veterans' Affairs Committee. She also chairs two subcommittees on Government Operations and Border Management and Aviation Safety, Operations, and Innovation.Leader Schumer said Sinema asked him to keep her committee assignments and he agreed.

Not much change to Democrats' control of the Senate and Senate committees by her changing party designation.  The change for her might be more about maintaining her ability to run for the Senate in 2024. She would not win a primary as a Democrat.
Too much sex is still not enough.

At least we smart people here in Cali.
State Senate 40 members, 8 Republicans. State Assembly 80 members, 18 Republicans.
Next election get rid of the GOP.

That's why this state is so messed up, no checks and balances.
Are we having fun yet?

And that's why the country was so messed up when the Republicans owner both houses of government. No checks and balances then either but I doubt you would have said the same thing then.

Actually the country was great back then, inflation was low and gas was cheap.

One can find an argument from the past to support anything.
Problem is the future will always be different from any past.

A world wide pandemic, A war started by Putin might have something to do with it. Gas today $3.59. EU agrees to pay no more than $60 a barrel for Russian oil. That will bring it down more.

Instead of tackling inflation and corporate price gouging of the American people, Republicans instead want to expend their energy doing away with the Office of Congressional Ethics.
Guess they don't want to investigate Santos.

My immediate thought was Republicans don't need or want to tackle inflation.  They'll just say Biden caused it.  Easier to blame him since that's just words.  It's a lot of work and time to put together laws, budgets, new polices, etc. that would directly solve our issues.  Sadly it's a dead locked Congress for the next 2 years so probably nothing but the most urgent items (that they consider urgent) will be addressed.......
