Gavin Newsom is violating the state rule banning travel to red states, I guess that makes him a hypocrite.
He's criticizing red state policies on his tour while we have so many problems here.

Hey Gavin, how about you do your job and fix the problems here first before telling other states what to do.

Since 2017 California has banned state-funded travel to states with discriminatory laws against LGBTQ people.

State Senate leader Toni Atkins announced legislation that would end the ban and replace it with an advertising campaign that promotes acceptance and inclusion for the LGBTQ community in those states with discriminatory laws. Link

Kevin Kiley has the best explanation:

So it's ok if the money comes from a PAC that he donated to.

Sounds like a certain person being charged with using campaign money for personal purposes.

Yes, it's okay. The money came from funds leftover from his own 2022 campaign for governor.

No, it's not at all like what Trump did, and trying to draw even the slightest comparison between the two is ridiculous.

Romanticlover

I agree Newsom is ridiculous, the rest of the country thinks so as well.

Uhm, unlike what the echo chamber and FAUXNEWS says, yes, he can do just that. As long as he doesn't use state funds to do it:

Permissible Uses
The contributions can be used in the following ways:

Donations to charities as long as the candidate does not receive any compensation from the organizations before it is spent and the donation is not used by the charity to benefit the candidate.
A donation of a maximum of $2,000 to another federal candidate, and donations to state or local candidates—all subject to state law.
Gift/donations of nominal value on special occasions to anyone besides the candidate's family.
Unlimited transfers to a local, state, or national political party committee like the Democratic or Republican National Committees.
Transfer to a future election campaign committee of the same candidate. For example, Bernie Sanders transferred $12.7 million from previous campaigns to his 2020 presidential committee.
Create a Leadership PAC to back other candidates and a political agenda.

That still doesn't excuse him from travelling to other states telling residents and lawmakers how to run their state.
You don't see other governors visiting California telling us how to run our state.

As a proud, lifle long Californian, Newsom is an embarrassment and the best we can hope for is tha the rest of teh County see it too or we get that pompous ass as president.

He was going"to boost Democrat gubernatorial candidates" in those states. Not an uncommon practice for "star" politicians to help out with other people's campaigns.

Newsom is not the worst governor as far as governors go. May not like him, but he beat back the recall effort.

Newsom is running for President in 2028(2024 if Biden doesn't seek re-election), he won't admit it but everybody in the beltway says he is. Everyone I talk to outside of CA can't stand him and I'll bet money he polls lower than Kamala Harris nationwide.

No doubt that's a representative sampling of the out-of-state electorate. LOL

He is a private citizen on his own time, which this is. He's not there on state business. Or are you saying that elected officials need to be held to a higher standard than normal people and lose their rights to do what they want when elected?

And no, they COWARDLY stay in their own states and tell us how bad California is, how woke, how we need change and yadda yadda yadda.

You know, exactly what you are complaining about...

If everyone hates him as you say, then why are you worried? If he's that hated, he won't have a chance to be elected, right?

He's travelling around the country on the clock and getting paid by California tax-payers, he isn't on vacation going to Disneyworld. Technically he is there on state business, he's trying to push an agenda that the residents don't want.
