I was looking forward to reading the testimony of people like Hannity and Carlson, who would have had to admit either (1) they're gullible fools or (2) they're brazen liars.

Oh well. Details haven't been announced.

UPDATE: Fox will pay Dominion $787.5 million.

Fox News agreed to pay $787.5 million to settle with Dominion, the voting machine company's attorneys confirmed at a press conference.

"The truth matters," Dominion's attorney Justin Nelson said in a press conference outside of court. "Lies have consequences."

Fox News released an unsigned and carefully worded statement. "We are pleased to have reached a settlement of our dispute with Dominion Voting Systems," the network wrote. "We acknowledge the Court's rulings finding certain claims about Dominion to be false."

While $787.5 million is half of what Dominion was suing for, it is a lot of money. And more importantly it is a DONE DEAL. Unlike a jury verdict it cannot be appealed.

NEXT UP SMARTMATIC
Smartmatic, like its rival Dominion, produces voting machines. Also like Dominion, its suing Fox News over false claims the network's hosts made about the 2020 election being rigged, despite there being no evidence of widespread election fraud.

The company is suing anchors Maria Bartiromo, Lou Dobbs and Jeanine Pirro, along with Fox Corporation, Sidney Powell and Rudolph Giuliani based on claims of election rigging made on air after the 2020 election.

As a reminder before this is spun to be something else, this is what Dominion was suing Fox News over, and what, by this settlement, they agree they did:

Dominion Voting Systems alleged that Fox News knowingly smeared them in an effort to keep viewers from flocking to far-right competitors after the 2020 presidential election.

Fox agreed to no such thing. In fact, in their statement, they didn't even admit to making false statements; they only acknowledged the court's rulings that they did so.

This is a win for Fox, but one can understand why Dominion took the money.

Smart move on Fox for settling, as for them going out of business...this settlement is a drop in the bucket on their revenue:

You are correct. Fox did NOT ADMIT to doing it.

But on the other hand, if you are in the right and have an unassailable case, you don't settle either...

Um no.....because life is complicated.  Settling a lawsuit is not always an admission of guilt.  Sometimes it only means the alternative is even less appealing.

That goes both ways, Dominion must of realized they had a weak case that would be held up on appeals for years.

This was a win for both parties, Fox didn't have to testify under oath and Domimion got an easy $787.5 million.

Dominion may have been concerned about appeals, but the idea that they had a weak case is nonsense. On the contrary, the facts known publicly make clear that Dominion had an exceedingly strong case.

If they had a strong case they wouldn't have settled and could of got twice the amount(or more) had they won.
Besides the appeals there's also the matter of what they were asking, the company isn't worth $1.6 billion. It's only worth $80 million:

They now have $787.5 million to blow on lavish bonuses for their execs.

Regardless of who did what, it's over as romanticlover indicated.
Fox settled one case.  Dominion got what most would consider an amazing payday.
Those are the facts.  Beyond that it's mostly useless speculation especially if you were not there or directly involved.

Danno

if it was a weak case they would of wanted a jury trail

More nonsense. There are many reasons for the parties to have settled. For example, Fox got to avoid (for now) the scrutiny of the Special Master that the judge appointed this morning. That would have meant under-oath depositions of anyone the special master wanted, all at Fox's expense. That alone could have been the reason Fox settled.

From Dominion's perspective, they might well have judged that the $787.5 million now, without the delays and expense of appeals, was simply in the best interests of the company.

Danno

they are going to pay the people that work for them that had their life's threatened by the wacked out MEGA crowd.
the next voting machine trail is going after the so called reporters of fox not news. hit their pocket books
