House Republicans once again voted to reject the nomination of Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, to be the next speaker of the House. Jordan lost a second vote in as many days as opposition to his nomination grew from 20 GOP defections to 22. Link

During his 16 years in Congress, Rep Jordan has not gotten one bill passed. So it really shouldn't be surprising he's having trouble getting the votes to become House Speaker, whose primary job is to move legislation and have the House function properly.

John Boehner called Jim Jordan a "legislative terrorist" Link

From the hour and a half video of the House vote roll call, I skipped to the end to hear the vote tally.

Hakeem Jeffries received 212 votes
Jim Jordan received 199 votes.
The humorous moment came when John Boehner received 1 vote.

It's a disaster.  How long will (or can) this clown show go on?
2 seconds before Nov. 15?

Jim Jordan on a 3rd ballot for Speaker of the House did even worse than he did on the previous ballots. The three time loser went into private Republican session to see if the caucus still wanted him to run for the Speakership. By secret vote a 112 Republicans said no. Only 86 said yes. So, Jim Jordan three strikes out will no longer run for the Speakership.

'Multiple rounds of voting have been necessary 16 times since 1789, most recently in October 2023. In the longest speaker election in House history, 133 ballots (cast over a two-month period) were needed before representatives chose Nathaniel Banks as their presiding officer for the 34th Congress (1855–1857).'

One thing I know for sure is Hakeem Jeffries won't be speaker in this Congress.

Yesterday the House Republicans had a closed door meeting and when Gaetz stood up to speak he was booed and a couple of Reps told him to sit down and shut up.

That is a sure bet, lol.

The question that remains is will Hakeem Jeffries help Republicans to elect a Speaker, since Republicans seem unable to do it on their own.

The Democrats have been united all along. It's ridiculous for anyone to blame the Dems for the Republicans' dysfunction. Even most Republicans know this.

The Republicans could try to compromise with the Democrats to give the Speaker Pro Tempore enough power that they could at least bring bills to the floor. But they're too fucked up even to do that.

Are they united with what the "Squad" has been saying the past two weeks?
The answer is no, in fact some such as Fetterman and Biden have called them out.

Both parties are dysfunctional and have fringe members who say crazy shit that are outside the mainstream.

I thought we were talking about the selection of a Speaker. Wasn't that the topic? *checks notes*  Yes, it was!

Well shoot..... Jordan is a loser.  Why give up so early?   I was hoping he'd keep trying to gain more votes and at least outdo McCarthy by going through at least 16 rounds of votes.

Hakeem Jeffries(D-NY) has the full support of Dems in the House but he's a radical wacko who is bought and paid for by the Soros family, his views are way outside the mainstream. Go check out his Twitter/X posts, they are hilarious but the comments are even more funny.

Seems unlikely they'd pick a Speaker whose views are outside the mainstream.

Then again, whenever I hear words falling out of Hannity's mouth, he's talking about the "radical socialist" left, so maybe it depends on what you consider mainstream.

Soros family believe in an open society, where equal treatment for all—regardless of ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, or sexual identity—as a fundamental part of healthy democracies. What's wrong with that? Seems pretty main stream to me.
Has given away over $32 Billion of his money. Double Eagle did well.

yup, radical wacko, but Trump is just fine. lol
