Then use the extra $500 a month as a down payment to buy a rental house.  Put a for rent sign in the yard and help supply the market with housing.

More supply means cheaper rents.

I am too old and ill to deal with people renting.  Besides I would not be a slum lord who only cares about making money and does nothing to improve their rentals having no problem raising rent. Land is becoming so expensive making it almost impossible to build apartments on it.

The government needs to do better to keep rents as low as possible.  When working full-time at a good monthly wage rent is not a problem until you have to be on fixed income.

Lest someone miss the obvious application of that evil slogan ...

Some of my friends here in this Saloon are in business providing an essential human need.

How will they not be allowed to profit?  Who will prevent them?  Who gets to decide?

Griping about donation rates is one thing, "not allowing" is quite another.

If there was no profit motive, why woukd anyone sign up to be a landlord?

As Hobby put it:  "Land is becoming so expensive making it almost impossible to build apartments on it."
