Scott asked Trump about his pledge to pardon people convicted for their roles in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol and specifically whether he would pardon those who assaulted police officers.

Trump said, "Oh, absolutely I would," and said, "If they're innocent, I would pardon them."

Scott pointed out they have been convicted and therefore are not innocent.

"Well, they were convicted by a very, very tough system," he said.

This is another example of Trump's practice of shitting on foundational American institutions when the results don't suit his purposes. It's one thing for your everyday criminal to express disagreement with a jury verdict that didn't go his way. It's quite another for a presidential candidate to say that the jury system provided for in our Constitution is not to be trusted in cases that he personally doesn't like.

It's directly analogous to the way he claims elections are rigged against him, the DOJ has been "weaponized" against him, and members of the media who don't kiss his ass are the enemy of the people.

 He's the most anti-American politician in modern history, and yet his supporters think he's some kind of patriot. Damn fools.

That may make you smarter than me because I watched most of it for you! It didn't seem to have anything to do with Kamala not attending the NABJ convention in Chicago.

Anyway, Harris was never "scheduled" to be at the convention. She didn't "skip out" on anything. She was invited, but she advised the NABJ that she could not attend.
