US should declare war Ukraine

I'm thinking out loud here. If the US declared war on Ukraine and Ukraine immediately surrenders making Ukraine a US territory we could move our military in and tell Russia to get the fuck out. We would leave the Ukraine government in place as it is now.  We would help Ukraine rebuild and have military bases to help protect Ukraine and other countries from invasion.

Your thought is similar in concept to the 1959 British satirical comedy film, The Mouse That Roared which is about a small country that declares war on the United States to get financial aid.

The issue restraining the US involvement is that Russia has nuclear weapons, so we are afraid of a catastrophic escalation. It is not necessary to "declare war" on Ukraine.
