That's his latest plan. But he still want this to happen also. Permanently terminating the employee payroll tax along the lines President Trump has proposed would empty Social Security's trust fund by 2026 or earlier.

Quote from: dogwalker on Sep 23, 2024, 10:42 AMNo actually Trump wants to get rid of the tax on Social Security income not the tax itself (on wages).
The current system again penalizes those that are successful (make "too much" money).
If you make over $25K (if filing single) and collect Social Security benefits then those benefits begin to be subjected to federal income tax.
Make over $34K and more is taxed.

Well, if the Republicans eventually do away with entitlement programs altogether, there won't be a need for the payroll tax! lol

Quote from: Blkfyre on Sep 23, 2024, 03:11 PMThe money given to other governments, being less than 1% is not a bar to money being paid into SSI. SSI is financed by general funds of the U.S. Treasury — personal income taxes, corporate taxes, and other taxes. Social Security taxes collected under the Federal Insurance Contributions Act (FICA) or the Self-Employment Contributions Act (SECA) do not fund the SSI program.
From the information Hobby has provided here, my best guess is that he once received SSDI, which is funded through social security taxes. Sometime after age 65, however, his SSDI benefits were converted to regular social security payments because that happens when you reach full retirement age.

Not exactly.  I applied for and approved for ssdi when I turned 62. People told me it would be a fight to get ssdi.  I had passed out cold in high secure area with inmates twice and ssi contacted the state to find out that did happen.  No employer is going to hire someone with a bad heart and passes out.  So when I  applied for ssdi the lady looked at my total ssi I should receive but she said my retirement income from state reduced it  from like 1450 to 600.  So that's what happened.

I retired the same day I passed out.  Since then I have had 6 more stents and last December my aortic valve was replaced.  Heart wise now I am doing good.  Don't pass out anymore.  If I didn't have the heart issues I would still be working for the state earning 8500 per month. I make about 3300 now... so I hope I get a big ssi raise that would be awesome.

I'm happy to hear you're doing well. I hope that bill passes so you might get some kind of increase in your Social Security.

Most foreign aid actually goes to US companies who produce military items for the foreign country. Foreign aid is another word for Corporate welfare.  Most US arms/and aircraft companies would go out of business without foreign aid.   We "give money" to Ukraine, Israel, Poland, South Korea,  the money goes to the US military industrial complex.
We all got two lives, the second one begins when you realize you only have one.
