The election is over and a insane man won. I just hope he doesn't keep his campaign promises that will hurt us.

Very interesting phenomenon.  So many less voters than either of the last two elections.  Was it Covid fear that drove up the prior election?

Across the board, not just a few states, It seems every state the number of voters dropped significantly.  I'm not a conspiracy theorist.  I believe all the elections have been relatively honest and accurate.   Just seems lots of people stayed home.

There was no fear of covid it was here killed thousands of people and caused many to lose their businesses. Covid fucked up our economy. People looked at the state they were in and blamed Trump for it just as they blame Biden today.  Had the economy turned around sooner Trump would have lost.

Or just could it be that most the states with Democrat support for Kamala Harris didn't require ID to vote.  Probably not but it sure makes you wonder... what's wrong with giving your ID?

Idk, maybe, but then you'd think the blue states would have had high vote counts this election while red states would have had lower or the same.  That's not the case, I think pretty much every state is lower.  It's like there is a generation that just don't give a fuck and has given up on democracy.  As the elderly passed, no one is taking their place as voters.

I got no problem with voter ID as long as the ability to obtain it is easy, free and available to all citizens at all times.  Can't charge people $50 for a copy of their own birth certificate or make the time to get the ID only between 10 am and 3 pm on the third Thursday of every odd month.

I'm not following this logic. Why would not requiring ID at the polls in states with Democratic support result in lower vote totals in those states? Is that what you're suggesting?

No I'm suggesting that maybe that's why some of those states went blue.  Just a thought it just seems strange when you look at the I'd requirement and what states were blue

Trump pretty much swept the swing states this time. I believe AZ is the only one that hasn't been called. Are you talking about states that went blue in 2020?

Rockeyhard

No look at the states that Kamala won.  Most of them did not require voter ID.  I found that to be interesting and was inferring that there was a connection.  But like I said I don't know.  Just an interesting fact!

I think the connection is that states that require voter ID at the polls tend to lean right, while states less paranoid about voter fraud lean left.

Close elections the outcome can be based on who votes and who stays home. Was there voter suppression or voter apathy that caused less people to vote?

I think it mainly was apathy among Democrats. That god-awful Biden debate performance sealed the deal.

In retrospect, Biden shouldn't have run for a second term. Democrats had plenty of time during his first term to plan for his retirement, but it didn't happen until the debate forced them into it at the last minute. By then, it was too late to wake people up.

I agree. Biden was a complete disaster. Mentally and cognitively. However, he was sure a lot better than Kamala. She never was elected by the people, and was not electable.  Thank goodness for poor decisions!  Now the country can get back to making sense again
