The armistice that ended World War I was signed on November 11, 1918, at the 11th hour  of the 11th day  of the 11th month.

November 1919,   President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first commemoration of Armistice Day, which included parades and public gatherings. 1938, Armistice Day   was officially recognized as a federal holiday in the United States.

After World War II and the Korean War, the holiday was renamed Veterans Day in 1954  to honor all American veterans, not just those who served in World War I. Veterans Day was briefly moved to the fourth Monday in October in 1968, it was returned to November 11 in 1978 to preserve its historical significance

A great day for all of us to honor all the men and women who have served our great nation.
We all got two lives, the second one begins when you realize you only have one.
