I guess it's only a conspiracy theory if it's right

It's a 500-page report, and I haven't read much of it yet, but coming from the impossibly partisan House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, I can't imagine it being anything but propaganda. Those guys are just way too predictable.

I can already see there's going to be lots of praise for Trump and Republicans, ample criticism of Democrats and scientists, and, of course, smearing Dr. Fauci.

I always thought COVID originated at the Wuhan lab, the most disturbing part is the US government(ie taxpayers) were partially funding research there.

No one is questioning where the virus originated. What is in question is if China developed the virus or studying it and did China release the virus with intent?  No doubt China was studying the virus they provided the DNA information to help develop testing and vaccine. In December 2019 China said many workers were ill with the virus. The world was devastated from corona virus so not only does the US want to know so do many other countries.  The Spanish Flu originated in the US does that mean the US is responsible for the deaths worldwide?

Countries need to be careful about blaming countries of viral outbreaks because if countries  think they will suffer economical loss they might not send out warnings during the first outbreak of the illness.

I don't think the sub committee was looking for who to blame but rather what went wrong so we can perhaps prevent this in the future.

Scientists don't know for sure that the 1918 Spanish Flu started in the US, they thought that because US troops headed to Europe in 1917. There's also a theory that Chinese workers who were sent to Canada and England during that time brought the virus.

Correlation does not mean causation.

Spain got blamed because they were the first to talk about the virus.

Would not be difficult to spread a deadly disease around the world in less than 24 hrs.  Put the virus in in tiny glass capsuls then just break them in highly populated cities around the globe.  Not much can be done to stop it.

I think when a outbreak begins in a country all airtravel in and out of that country should be suspended til the extent and spread is known.  In the US if another pandemic starts the entire city should be isolated cutting off all travel in or out of the affected city... not isolate people in their homes.  All public transportation should be suspended in affected cities.

One of the dumbest things about the pandemic is that ordinary Americans formed opinions about the virus's origin. Did it leak from a lab, or was it a "natural" occurrence? Americans have opinions!

How the fuck can non-virologists who know nothing about the specifics of what happened in China have an informed opinion?

Answer: They can't, and they're fools for pretending they have any idea.

Strange how everyone was right though but only fools pretend to ignore the science. Similar to all of the fools who complained about the vaccine. It's always funny how each party believes there to be fools only on the other side

The mistake Trump made during covid is he opened his mouth with some really stupid stuff.  Trump should have let each state do what they needed to do and just say the federal government is here to assist.  But no Trump wanted for everyone to think to feed his ego he had the virus under control. When the 2020 election came majority blamed Trump.  When people are not doing well they will blame who they think is responsible.

Trump getting rid of the pandemic play book was the thing that delayed the response. Then gives our test kits to his best friend and commie

The pandemic should have been a completely nonpartisan issue. Only one party consistently attacked the scientists. I'll let you guess which party that was, but a hint is that it's the party whose leader has named an anti-vax conspiracy theorist as his nominee to be the head of HHS.

Not sure what specific point you are trying to make.

I did a college class research paper on lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) back in the mid 60's. LSD was discovered by Sandoz Pharmaceuticals based in Switzerland. The most significant thing that I remember was a study with terminal cancer patients. The clinical administration of LSD to these patients resulted in they had better acceptance of their dying and needed less pain medication.

Select Subcommittee "Covid origins" probe failed to find the virus's origin or advance our
understanding of how the Novel Coronavirus came to be.  Minority Report

I'm actually upset because I know of a few people who would have been willing participants.
