I think there were several errors during the trial soTrump's attorney will appeal the conviction. If it goes to SCOTUS the verdict no doubt will overturned by the Republican judges who hold the majority. Regardless the case will remain in history books forever.

Motivation by an activist DA is relevant.
By the lack of a sentence or fine the judge knew this case was BS but was forced to take it anyway, after his ruling the judge wished Trump well.

If Judge Merchan "knew" the case was "BS" (lacking merit) he would have dismissed the case.

The judge wishing Trump well, shows he has class. He responds to Trump as a president elect.
