Both the peso and Canadian dollar went down on the news of tariffs, they need US(double entendre) more than we need them.

And yes send that Mexican and Canadian pussy our way.
Are we having fun yet?

Quote from: Hobby on Feb 02, 2025, 12:48 PMTrump campaigned mainly on illegal immigration and cost of living.  Trump placed tariffs on Canada and Mexico how will this lower our cost of living in the foreseeable future?  Experts are saying tariffs will drive inflation and cost of living through the roof. I am at my financial limit and can't afford to pay more. Like it or not Trump is the president and my president. I want to support him but he is making it difficult to support him if he drives prices up.  Can someone please explain how these tariffs will help lower our cost of living because I have no clue just questions.

Trump won again on the tariffs. Mexico & Canada caved. imagine that..
Mexicos GDP is 40% dependent on U.S.A. trade.
U.S.A. GDP is 1% dependent on Mexicos trade.
$1 USA is just over 20 pesos today..

Canada GDP is 30% dependent on U.S.A. trade.
U.S.A. GDP is 1% dependent on Canadas trade.

Fact is those Countries would of sunk if they did not bend to Trump.

Hell, Canada may be a State in the future... LOL

And if they sink, we sink right along with them. So what's the point? Who goes around bullying their friends?

Ok forget Canada and Mexico.  What are the numbers for China and EU?
Also how much of our debt is financed by China?

I'm happy Mexico and Canada agreed and no tariffs to raise my cost of living.

With the little to no trade with theses Countries would of affected us very little.
They depend on us more. They would go to automatic recession..

Uhm, you do get that what Mexico and Canada promised is...

EXACTLY WHAT THEY WERE DOING BEFORE right?

There's no change in what they offered. They stopped their tariffs because Trump said he'd stop his.

The only winning here is Trump brainwashing his followers to think that he did anything at all

Trump bragging about Mexico sending 10,000 soldiers to the southern U.S. border. However Mexico also deployed 10,000 troops to the border in 2021, under President Biden without the threat of tariffs. Link

AI gave a response: Mexico had previously deployed 15,000 troops to its northern border in 2021 as part of an agreement with the Biden administration. The recent agreement to send 10,000 troops is in addition to the existing deployment, bringing the total number of troops to 25,000. (I could not find a link to verify.)

The population of Canada is approximately 40.1 million. The population of California is around 39.4 million.

Canada is generally considered to lean more liberal politically. The country has a tradition of secular liberalism and social democracy, with a strong emphasis on multiculturalism, social services, and social justice.(Wikipedia)
So, making Canada the 51st state could flip  the Senate and House to Democrats.

"By agreeing to the pause for Mexico and Canada, Trump has been able to tell his supporters that he brokered a smart deal and to declare victory in addressing illegal immigration and drug trafficking. Canada will have a new "fentanyl czar," and Mexico pledged to deploy 10,000 members of its National Guard. The White House sent out an email with 68 Republican lawmakers praising him after the pauses were announced."

Weeks ago, Canada offered $1.3 billion Canadian dollars ($900 million) for border security with a package that included drones, helicopters, more border guards and the creation of a joint task force. On Monday, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said after talks with Trump that they added the fentanyl czar and agreed to list Mexican drug cartels as terrorist organizations.

"Canada did not bend the knee," Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Andrew Furey said. "There is such a small flow of fentanyl into the United States from Canada that it will be tough to show the president that there's been gigantic reduction because there's not a gigantic start to begin with compared to the southern border."

So, Trudeau said that they'd have a person with a title and...nothing else than what they had agreed to over a month ago.

"The Trump team saw it as win that Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum agreed to station 10,000 members of her country's National Guard on its border with the United States. But those troops are essentially being shifted from other parts of the country, rather than newly deployed.

"In 2019, when Mexico's government also avoided tariffs from Trump's administration, the government announced it would send 15,000 soldiers to its northern border."

So, Mexico had 15,000 and Trump "won" by getting them to agree to 10,000???

Why didn't Mexico and Canada do anything on their own to stop the drug trafficking on both borders?  Why did Trump have to take action?  Because Biden and Democrats don't care about the drugs or illegals crossing the border.  Don't you want to stop the drug and illegals immigrants crossings or you okay with it?

If Americans stop buying and using illict drugs, Mexico and Canada wouldn't have to worry about stopping drug trafficking accros their borders.......just sayin.

I don't have to be ok with it. It's not my job to be ok or not.

And there's no discussing what Biden and the Democrats may or may not have done: you already made up your mind so anything said that included facts would just be dismissed
