We are about to see the highest unemployment rate since Trump left office.

And Canada just signed a new oil deal with China, by passing the USA. The art of the deal guy is fucking up.

Canada put a 100% tariff on Tesla

That won't last long.  Trump will retaliate imposing tariffs and bring Canada to its knees.  Canada relies too much on US goods and Trump knows it.

Canada is a longtime friend, ally, and trading partner. Their armed forces have died in our stupid wars. Yet Trump the bully seems happy to kick them in the nuts for no reason.

Quote from: Hobby on Feb 13, 2025, 05:29 AMThe title of this thread HOSTILE TAKE OVER! Where is the hostility?  Musk nor Trump is Not being hostile. A judge gave the go ahead to layoff or fire federal workers. Yesterday deadline 78,000 workers resigned taking Trump's offer.  They read the writing on the wall.
It's an expression from the business world. According to Investopedia, "a hostile takeover happens when an entity takes control of a company without the knowledge and against the wishes of the company's management."

What Musk and Trump and other radicals want is to dismantle the federal government so that it no longer serves the public interest, but instead serves their varying interests:

  • Trump wants to be a dictator.
  • Musk thinks he's going to change civilization by colonizing Mars, or some shit.
  • The Christian nationalists like Russell Vought want a CEO who will impose their extreme views on the rest of us.

When federal government is shut down we get along just fine.  Trump could fire 90% of the federal workers force and we probably do much better.

My ssi check is sent by automation not by human hands.  And it's illegal now to reduce my payment by the windfall elimination fairness act that was signed into law last January 2025 retro to January 2024.  I just got my ssi deposit and ssi is still deducting my wep.

Social Security checks are processed through automated systems. Elon Musk has gained access to the U.S. Treasury's payment system, which disburses Social Security checks among other payments. You had better hope he doesn't blow it up.

I have a friend that has to go to a new specialty medical clinic because the one he had been going to for 30 years had to close because they are very dependent on federal funding support.  They have no "savings" for a rainy day.  Is that the end of his world?  No, he may be able to find a new clinic.

Reminder: many seem to think these budget cuts only affect federal departments BUT nearly every state and many cities in the US get some degree of federal funding so don't think you won't be affected.  I've been surprised by who I know that has been affected by this that never thought they would be.  Some are Trump supporters so it's interesting to watch them get screwed by someone they thought had their back (farmers for example).

They aren't touching ssi... Musk is finding tons of waste and fraud.  Don't the Democrats want the waste of money to stop?

So he says. Why would you believe Musk? And why should we trust this one guy, who has massive conflicts of interest, to do this job?

By the way, one of the most effective programs of finding waste and fraud are Inspectors General. But Trump fired at least 17 of those in his first days in office.

Trump wants no accountability, and with Musk there isn't any. Remember, Musk paid $250 million to support Trump's campaign. He didn't do that out of the goodness of his greedy little heart.

Is there a election tomorrow I don't know about?  Nope! So what is with all this argument?  Trump will do what Trump wants and there is nothing we can do about it until the next election. So buckle up it's going to be one hell of ride!

Does the next election have to be tomorrow in order to discuss politics here? That's a weird rule. lol

You sure like to make shit up.  I didn't say it's a rule did I?  But being a Democrat I suppose you just can't help yourself.  I'm just saying it doesn't matter who is right or wrong we have to endure what is to come.  Personally I think we are in for big trouble from some of things Trump is doing.  On many things I agree with you but nothing can be done about it till the next election.
