Trump Says Ukraine Started The War

Ukraine had a treaty and agreement not to join NATO. NATO countries did not want Ukrain as a NATO member because they feared making Ukraine a NATO member would lead to war with Russia.  From what I read and understand Trump is right when he says Ukraine started it.  There are several violation of the agreement Ukraine violated.  After Trump lost the 2020 election Russia feared the now liberal led US would support and make Ukraine a NATO country so they had no other choice left open and invaded Ukraine.

Here we go.  We all knew it was just a matter of time before lovers Trump and Putin began to spin the propaganda of how Ukraine is the bad player.

Once Ukraine falls, it will be Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia, then Poland.  Putin is playing Trump like a drum and Trumpsters will be all in!   So.. when can we expect Trump to pull us out of Nato?   Anything for Putin's love...

Seems complicated to me.  Blame can be traced back to a variety of events and times in many situations.  I wouldn't focus on a single event and say that is the only cause. For example one could blame Reagan and Gorbachev since they are partly responsible for the USSR falling apart. If the USSR was still intact there would have been no war because Ukraine would still be under solid Russian influence.  However at a high level and more recently Russia did invade a sovereign nation that was not attacking it, no matter what the reason.  Ukraine like most if not all former member republics of the USSR became independent in 1991 so does Russia's claim Ukraine is not a country apply to the many other former USSR republics?  It's an absurd argument to me.  Russia claims Russians in eastern Ukraine had to be protected.  That's right out of the playbook of excuses for invasion.  Why not pay to resettle those people in Russia?  It would have been cheaper than a war.

Why is Russia apparently so threatened by Ukraine joining NATO?  Has NATO ever attacked a country without provocation? Why wouldn't Russia let Ukraine join NATO then see what happens rather than having a pre-emptive invasion? The situation really seems more about Russia controlling former USSR countries.

Perhaps a bit off topic but I'll propose one reason Trump seems to be siding with Russia and blaming Ukraine for the war is he hates Zelensky for refusing to investigate the Bidens.  A famous phone call between Zelensky and Trump is what lead to Trump's first impeachment.

Trump always starts with extreme posture then studies reactions.

Ukraine is sunk without help from the US.

Yes, of course, because Trump is maybe the most petty man on earth. But I don't think it's a coincidence that Trump's comments about Ukraine starting the war came on the heels of the meeting in Saudi Arabia. My guess is the Russians served up their usual disinformation to the amateurs on the American side of the table and it was immediately transmitted to Trump.

Trump, being the Putin puppet that he is, pulled another Helsinki and repeated the Russian talking points. Vladimir and Sergei and the rest must be laughing their asses off at us.

Have to wait n see what happens next. You do want the war to end?   After years of fighting and loss of lives in Vietnam the North won and took over the entire country.  You really believe Russia won't win the war if Trump doesn't come up with something to end it?  If the war continues more lives lost, more destruction and more US equipment and money wasted.

Everyone not named Vladimir wants the war to end. The question is how. Ukraine has the spirit to continue the fight, but they need help. We're abandoning them, so it's up to Europe now.

Negotiating some temporary ceasefire with Putin, where he gets to reconstitute his military after three years of attrition, is not a good outcome for the West. But under Trump, America is shredding the traditional Western alliances that were forged through blood and diplomacy.

All so that Donald Trump can think of himself on a level with his bestie? So Putin can expand his sphere of influence to include the former Soviet republics? What are we doing?

Did you hear Russia said yesterday they have no problem Ukraine can join the European Union but no NATO.   That's a concession Putin is willing to make.  Puti wants the war to end.

My conservative engineering background plans for the worst and right now it looks like Trump and his dom Putin are just going to divvy up the world like a Monopoly game.  Trump is not the least bit concerned about reactions to him throwing Ukraine, not out in the cold, but over the cliff.  And as bad as that is, it's just a distraction from Elon and his team of 20 year old gamer nerds eating the guts of our gov't for lunch like a pack of hyenas.  But.........don't say "it can't get any worse."

I see you are complaining about DOGE finding fraud and waste spending but you don't say anything about what they have found so far.  I guess you don't care the US is wasting money when the money can be spent here to help Americans in need.

To somehow entertain the Bizarro world concept that Ukraine stared the war is utter insanity. It is akin to a sexual predator blaming the victim for their own rape. So, given Trump's personality and history as a predator it is not surprising that he spouts this absurd BS.

Even Republican Senators, Lisa Murkowski, John Kennedy, Susan Collins, John Curtis, Thom Tillis, Roger Wicker, John Thune, etc, have made it clear that Ukraine did not start the war.
Too much sex is still not enough.
