"The Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that Maine violated the Constitution when it refused to make public funding available for students to attend schools that provide religious instruction."
" But Tuesday's decision, Breyer suggested, creates the prospect that states may now be required to providing funds for religious schools simply by operating public schools or by giving vouchers for use at charter schools."

"The decision relaxed long-standing restrictions on using taxpayer money to pay for religious education, further lowering the wall of separation between church and state. "

"Justices ruled 5-4 that Maine's tuition program, which allows parents to use state funds to pay tuition for private schools if their children for some reason can't attend a public school locally, cannot legally block the funds from being used on religious schools."

Reason why  concerned adults send siblings to a private entity is to get away from the States Agenda.. Thus State is separated,
Funding goes to education provided period.

Private schools started to greatly expand after desegregation of public schools. If these private schools were segregated than they could lose Federal funding. Link

As previously discussed on how abortion became a Republican issue. In the late 1970s, fundamentalist Christians became outraged at the decision to withdraw tax-exempt status from segregated church schools. Supreme Court decisions banning school prayer and legalizing abortion fed the "attack" on the church narrative.
