Schrodinger's fetus is both alive and unalive depending on which justifies the most oppression of women.

So, Missouri's trigger law went into effect. This is one of the most draconian laws as there are NO exceptions for abortion including rape or incest: https://missouriindependent.com/2022/06/24/abortion-is-now-illegal-in-missouri-in-wake-of-u-s-supreme-court-ruling/

BUT, at the same time, Missouri stops women from finalizing their divorce if they are pregnant. The legal reason a pregnant woman can't get divorced in Missouri is because the unborn is not a person so joint custody and support can't be adjudicated until the first breath. You heard that right. Not a person. Until born.

Arizona, Arkansas, and Texas have practices similar to Missouri, according to local law firms, and yes, those states also have/want to have abortion laws that say a baby is a person long before birth.

In California you can kill the unborn who hasn't committed any crimes but not convicted murderers on death row.
Quite the conundrum isn't it, is a fetus a wave or a particle?
Are we having fun yet?

much cheaper to keep them on death row

This is kind of stupid... You could not assign custody until you know the baby is born and needs the support. The baby could die before birth so it makes sense to wait till the baby is born. For certain legal purposes requirment for a person may be defined as having to be born but in other legal instances such as murder, the fetus is considered a person... So legal requirements can vary depending on the situation and one determination of a requirement as to who a person is does not define who is a person.

Schrödinger:
Famous thought experiment, physicist Erwin described how a cat in a box could be in an uncertain predicament. The peculiar rules of quantum theory meant that it could be both dead and alive, until the box was opened and the cat's state measured.
