Title: Chinas
Post by: Bande on Mar 26, 2022, 05:25 PM
It has been said China investors own 200 thousand acres of farmaland with subsidies. At this rate they will soon control Our food as well.

How many Countries would allow America investors to own that much of a key industry for a Country? I would say none.

For a Couintry to prosper the Country needs to control Food, water, & energy.

China controls Our media and one can see how that is going...

If this continues we will be controlled by China..

Of California's approximately 100 million acres of land, 43 million acres are used for agriculture. Of this, 16 million acres are grazing land and 27 million acres are cropland.

https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/agvision/docs/Agricultural_Loss_and_Conservation.pdf

I would say the China have a long ways to go... I do agree that the US should not allow foreign countries to own land in the US...

Not sure why you have this focus on China (China virus, ChinaBiden, now this) but you do realize that clChina actually holds the LEAST amount of land than any other country right? https://www.agri-pulse.com/articles/16846-despite-holding-little-us-land-china-remains-focus-of-foreign-farmland-ownership-discussion

" The most recent data collected under the Agricultural Foreign Investment Disclosure Act (AFIDA) shows Chinese investors held a little more than half of 1% of the overall 35.8 million acres of U.S. farmland and forest land under foreign ownership in 2019."

" Most Chinese agricultural investment has bypassed the United States," the report's authors wrote. "North America has received the smallest share among all continents of China's outbound agricultural investment, despite being top supplier [sic] of China's agricultural imports and a top destination for China's nonagricultural investments."China_Chart_2-(1)-(1).png

Plus, investors from China — who held 191,652 total acres of land in 2019 — appear to possess far fewer acres of U.S. farmland than people from other countries. Investors from Canada and the Netherlands held 7.4 million acres and 4.5 million acres, respectively, and investors from Italy, Portugal, Germany, the United Kingdom, France, and eight other countries followed, each group possessing more land than their Chinese counterparts."

So exactly how is it they are so soon to control us?  This sounds more like xenophobia brought on by Trump who obviously had something against the Chinese...

So I am guessing you have no problem with foreign countries, especially a communist country buying and owning property in the US. Why am I not surprised?

Be careful...   The capitalists and Libertarians would be very unhappy if we had laws limiting who we can sell our property to. All those people yelling "freedom" don't want government saying, "sorry property owner, you can't sell to the person who will pay you the highest amount."  Can't have it both ways...

Highest offer of us citizens not foreigners if they are banned from owning land in US. That's not having it both ways. That's being smart and not selling out our country.  The US should not be for sale to foreign investors.

I'm fine with that.  I just doubt the conservative "freedom" wing of the Republican party will be good with "Big Government" trying to tell them what they can or can't do with their own property..

I wonder how many of us right here have sold property to a foreign investor?  How would you know?  You do a background check on a buyer or just sold who offered the highest price, with cash in hand or loan pre approved?

Can you imagine the outcry if Biden said, sorry you can't sell to the highest bidder...  Lol.

"Can you imagine the outcry if Biden said, sorry you can't sell to the highest bidder...  Lol."

If he placed a tax on foreign investor's US land purchases, (taxation is what Democrats love) then Biden job rating might skyrocket!

So by that reasoning, you believe US citizens should be restricted and not be able to buy property in other countries right? Oh yeah, THAT will go over well!

Yep I do.... Most countries that allow US citizens to purchase property in their country require residency.  China does not allow US citizens to own property in China.  Only handful of countries allow foreigners to own property in their country usually with restrictions. No I don't want Communist Chinese buying property and moving here.... There already too many Communist Socialist Democrats in the US now, we don't need to be importing more of them.

Not so much: https://internationalliving.com/global-property-ownershi/

Looking at the first 10 entries 9 of them would let US citizens purchase property

Also, strictly speaking your assertation that a US citizen can't buy property in China is incorrect as well: https://www.yklaw.us/buying-property-in-china-as-a-foreigner/#:~:text=A%20foreigner%20can%20only%20own,permitted%20to%20buy%20a%20property.

Yeah and who do you think owns the property?  The state does... Better yet why don't you move to China and prove me wrong... Guests are not allowed to view images in posts, please Register or Login

You seem to be obsessed with Trump. This has nothing to do with Trump.
And Yes other countries have restrictions, policies, on foreiners owning property.
My point in which you did not comprehend i guess is U.S.A. continously gives China valuable intel in which they control the media, pharmaceuticals, and much more. To the point one has to depend on China. China is gaining control and before you know we will be screwed more.
I would guess you are good with us not being self dependant and have to rely on others. I prefer self dependant and provide and earn from others.

That actually was nowhere NEAR your point in the OP. Here, let me show you:

Nope, nothing there on valuable intel, or pharmaceuticals. As for the media, could you please list which of the major media outlets are controlled by the Chinese?

Lastly, as I showed, China owns a bit over 1% of land, could you please explain how that is China gaining control over us?

If you added up all just the Chinese restaurants they probably would add up alone to way over 1% of the land.LOL
