I have always warned about these cameras and who will have access to this information in the future? These cameras are mounted on telephone pole and have the PD logo with a blue flashing light.
We are small fish, but your spouses divorce attorney would love to have access to this information.
I know a lot of small towns in Cali have this system, they have cameras setup in town and it scans your plates or takes a photo of you. If you are wanted or the vehicle is stolen then it sends the info to LE.
I think it's an invasion of privacy but it's totally legal if you are in public, it's the same legal stance that anyone can take a photo of you if you are in public.

Searching through a database of 1.6 billion license plate records collected over the last two years from locations across New York State, the AI determined that Zayas' car was on a journey typical of a drug trafficker. According to a Department of Justice prosecutor filing, it made nine trips from Massachusetts to different parts of New York between October 2020 and August 2021 following routes known to be used by narcotics pushers and for conspicuously short stays. So on March 10 last year, Westchester PD pulled him over and searched his car, finding 112 grams of crack cocaine, a semiautomatic pistol and $34,000 in cash inside, according to court documents. A year later, Zayas pleaded guilty to a drug trafficking charge. Link (https://www.forbes.com/sites/thomasbrewster/2023/07/17/license-plate-reader-ai-criminal/?sh=2e7479d03ccc)
So, what was the probable cause for pulling over and searching the car? The AI software?

It doesn't take much for LE to pull you over for probable cause:

If you are pulled over then don't admit to anything, give them your license and shut up.
If they ask to search your vehicle then ask them "Am I under arrest?", If they say no then you say no.

It's like most modern technology. There are good uses and bad uses.
Dare I say welcome to......oh let me see (based on traveling to countries where I have seen it for myself) China, Russia, Israel and even England. I'm sure extensive Chinese and Russian surveillance will not surprise most of you....England does quite a bit too ...but if you have never been to Israel it may surprise you how that country operates-------cameras and different types of cops, military, and special forces of some sort almost everywhere especially in Jerusalem.
