For the purpose of this criminal case, former President Trump has become citizen Trump, with all of the defenses of any other criminal defendant," the three-judge panel wrote Tuesday.
"But any executive immunity that may have protected him while he served as president no longer protects him against this prosecution."Link (https://www.axios.com/2024/02/06/trump-immunity-appeal-dc-circuit)
Trump is sure to appeal to the Supreme Court by Monday's deadline. Questions are will the SCOTUS take up the case and if they do, will they do it expeditiously or let him run out the clock.
Trump is already fundraising off this court decision.
"For the purpose of this criminal case, former President Trump has become citizen Trump, with all of the defenses of any other criminal defendant," the D.C. Circuit judges wrote. "But any executive immunity that may have protected him while he served as President no longer protects him against this prosecution."
It's what I was hoping for. No one should be subject to a different set of laws in America just because they are rich, have a title, etc. It's bad enough that the rich and famous already are often able to get out of serving a sentence or paying a fine because they can afford better lawyers. Why make it official?
