Pool Hall / You can't be Italian!...WTF???
Last post by Tuscano - Apr 26, 2024, 09:31 PM
My too tall, blond blue-eyed daughter! When first meeting her French/German future inlaws...

My bad?...within my family, ethnic groups were acknowledged but then dismissed for the most part. It was all about, and so? what can you do???

Back to my daughter. Her prospective groom is of French, German, and Polish descent, and they live in an Italian neighborhood IN CHICAGO!!!

They asked her about her ethnic heritage. It was not something we discussed; it was just something given!!!My bad.

Her response?...Italian! OMG! Reaction? Nuclear! First words! "you cannot be Italian!". Life is a bitch...

My daughter's response...not getting it..."oh, I am sure my nonna is Italian!"

My third daughter has many gifts but social interactions are not there...give her a ball! Place her on ANY game field...YOUR ASS is grass!

My daughter so clueless!! After explaining her ethnic heritage to her, she jumps out with, "I AM ITAILIAN!"

Her elder sisters... roll their eyes..."We walk by a window...and are tan!" and you? You have the Irish!

Remember the Supreme Court noted Abortion was not in the Constitution. link
Neither is "presidential immunity"

JUSTICE KAGAN: The Framers did not put an immunity clause into the Constitution. They knew how to. There were immunity clauses in some state constitutions. They knew how to give legislative immunity. They didn't provide immunity to the president. And, you know, not so surprising, they were reacting against a monarch who claimed to be above the law. Wasn't the whole point that the president was not a monarch and the president was not supposed to be above the law? (page 44 transcipt)

MR. DREEBEN: ...His novel theory would immunize former presidents from criminal liability for bribery, treason, sedition, murder, and, here, conspiring to use fraud to overturn the results of an election and perpetuate himself in power. Such presidential immunity has no foundation in the Constitution. The Framers knew too well the dangers of a king who could do no wrong. They therefore devised a system to check abuses of power, especially the use of official power for private gain.(page 69 transcript)

The Supreme Court had in reality a simple question to discuss and answer. They went off on tangents to discuss hypothetical scenarios that have not happened in the past. No president in the past resisted the peaceful transference of power, which is the hallmark of American democracy.

Freedom Hall (politics) / Trump Immunity Oral Arguments
Last post by bats - Apr 26, 2024, 12:15 AM
Today, the right-wing extremists on the Supreme Court seemed more than happy to at least entertain Trump's position that a president must have complete immunity from criminal prosecution when it comes to official acts. Listening to the audio, it was bizarre to hear these supposedly neutral jurists seriously consider Trump's lawyer's argument that a legal "test" was needed to protect current presidents from extortion by political rivals and past presidents from being prosecuted for official acts while in office.

The wingnuts on the Court seemed to like the idea that they should probably send this appeal back to the lower court for "further proceedings."

Additionally, when one of the liberal justices posed a hypothetical to Trump's lawyer, this is what transpired:

JUSTICE SOTOMAYER: If the president decides that his rival is a corrupt person and he orders the military or orders someone to assassinate him, is that within his official acts for which he can get immunity?

TRUMP'S LAWYER: It would depend on the hypothetical. We can see that could well be an official act.

This is where we are in the MAGA/Trump era. WTF.

Quote from: Danno on Apr 24, 2024, 11:54 AMWhat exactly have the House Republicans done to help America in the last year and a half? They complain the Boarder is the biggest problem, then shoot down the solution that they came up with because the Orange clown told them to.

I think with a little thought you could answer your ?

The border issue? Biden can solve that with a stroke of the pen and yet he states he is waiting for Congress. Therefore Biden is full of shit The solution you mention did you see all the soup in there as well. I bet not.
Ultimately take care of our own and not extend our $$$$$ to other Countries.
Texas Republican Rep. Chip Roy blasted the GOP on the floor of the House, asking his colleagues to name one "material, meaningful significant thing" the party has accomplished recently. I want my Republican colleagues give me one thing the Republican majority has done. GIVE ME ONE THING.

"...care of our own and not extend our $$$$$ to other Countries."
We've discussed this ad nauseam in other threads. The foreign aid benefits our economy and out national security. The Putin wing along with Moscow Margie pushes the BS about "sacrificing" border security funding. BTW, Congress controls the funding for the boarder. Trump caused the border portion of the package to get fucked up. And the dumbass even admitted it.

A stroke of the pen of a bill passed by congress that Trump told them not to do. The boarder is a Republican problem now.
