A large part of people crossing the border pay taxes and take jobs that average Americans don't want, and yet Republicans say that the policies which let them do so are bad because of the few that do bad things, so why is saying the policy that lets those mentally ill bad people get guns which they use to murder law abiding Americans not bad too?

You confuse those that come here legally getting a work permit or visa and go back home when the season is over and those that come in illegally knowing it is illegal to be here in the first place, they don't leave and they don't pay taxes. There are many different mental illnesses. some are crazy people and never have a gun.  To put all the mentally ill into one group and say they can't buy guns is the same stereotyping done to Blacks denying a right just because of color. Surprised you don't understand this...

As you well pointed out, mentally ill people with guns are not the major problem with respect to mass shootings.

When it comes to dealing with climate change, global inflation, armed conflicts, etc., the USA must work with other countries. However, with gun violence the USA has total control. There needs to be a political will to understand the root causes and take action.

Why? The NRA is a huge organization around 5.5 million members strong. They represent American citizens who own and support the second amendment and you want to silence those voices of Americans... I would agree to having all interactions with legislators in open public if you agree this applies to all lobbying efforts by all Unions and Organizations who lobby.

I did NOT say anything about silencing their voices. Let their voices be heard PUBLICALLY. 

Note "for starters." Appling this to ALL lobbyists would be a great goal. This could set a precedent. The energy is on gun violence and the public perception is that NRA/Gun manufacturer lobbyists are blocking solutions. Have to start where there is the energy.

President Biden makes a great Consoler in Chief.
It's something he is good at base on his personal experience with the grief of loosing loved ones. It's an area in which he can be of value.
Dealing with the border is another story.
