Yesterday, Rachel Marie Powell, aka the Pink Hat Lady, was sentenced to 57 months in federal prison for her crimes on January 6th, 2021. Notably, according to prosecutors, she did not claim it was a peaceful demonstration or a tourist visit in Facebook posts shortly after the riot:

  • In the wake of the riot, Powell repeatedly bragged about the aggressive behavior of rioters, their violence towards law enforcement, and the eventual retreat of officers. For example, on January 7, Powell wrote: "IT WAS FUCKING WAR TO GET IN. IF YOU WERE NOT HERE THEN STFU."
  • In another post, she wrote: "we weren't fucking welcomed in you fucking idiot. You weren't even here so shut up and stop spouting facts like you know."
  • In another, she wrote: "there were lots of security. They had to retreat into the building and fight back because patriots were relentless."
  • In another, she replied, "they didn't open the gates. The people trampled them. It was war."
  • She also admitted having witnessed the violence on January 6: "the police fought back well. I did see them retreat before people were on the second floor but that was a fight to get them to retreat. They had their barricades removed from them and were pushed back."

On the other hand, Powell did say that if it weren't for the police, things would have been peaceful. Which makes perfect sense because what were the police doing there in the first place?!

"She was arrested three days later. Federal agents found a go-bag in her car containing a tarp, zip ties and two loaded magazines for an AK-47. They found two other go-bags in her home. One contained ammo, rope and duct tape, and the other contained throwing stars, knives and lighters."

"A fundraising effort asks for support for "an American Patriot under attack." As of Tuesday, the effort had raised $14,461 of a $50,000 goal. The most recent donation came about 3:30 p.m. the day of her sentencing."

Where is "billionaire" Donald Trump?

There's a video from Steve Bannon's show where she feigns responsibility by admitting that she broke a window and that it was "a mistake." She also claimed it was just a protest that got out of hand, and they didn't have a plan:

But her attempts to minimize the seriousness of her misconduct are shown to be bullshit in a series of videos linked here:

P.S.
She's also sometimes called "Bullhorn Lady," for obvious reasons.

Will those 300 protestors who stormed a Capitol building the other day get sentenced to 57 months in prison?

Usually, it's a good idea to compare apples to apples. According to the article:

Capitol Police said protests are not allowed inside the building. They told CBS News the protesters entered the building legally and properly through visitor security checkpoints, and were permitted to gather and congregate, but failed to follow police warnings after beginning the demonstrations.

See? No windows were broken. Nobody set up a gallows. Nobody was hurt or killed. And nobody was trying to stop the government from carrying out an official proceeding.
