There used to be a forum, on a previous hobby site, where pictures of events were posted. I enjoyed those pictures. Even when I was in them.

May we revive that?

I was also in several mixer pics from the past!  Some were a bit embarrassing but also funny.
My recollection of the the way it was done is permission was asked to post pics of all of those in the pics.
Probably more important now than then?
Some would allow their pics to be posted if their face was blurred (usually the men).
Others (usually the women) were ok with non-blurred face pics.

One time a long time reg of mine saw pics of her at a mixer that was posted without her permission.
Even though she was always face out she was still a bit upset about it because the photographer did not ask her for permission to do so.

Some guys think that they can take pictures all they want and post away.
It's the reason why some men and women have stopped attending and why some would show up quickly and leave just as quick. What's funny is we used to have one photographer who would show up to gatherings incognito and watch the group from afar.

Yes there was often an official mixer photographer.  Sometimes as many as 3 for the really large mixers.

There were also photo booths where one could go to in order to get pics taken by the official mixer photographer(s) so that made life simple for those that did not want their pics taken.  They didn't go to the photo booth.

The longstanding mantra, "Discretion is the Number One Rule of the Hobby" so, no picture taking is allowed at gatherings and mixers, unless the person gives express permission to have their picture taken. When we had photo boths it was understood that the pictures would be posted in a PRIVATE Mixer Forum. And some peope still did not want face to be shown. It was a lot of work for the photographer to prepare each photo before posting.

That is no longer the number one rule.  Many have gotten too comfortable and believe that because they have nothing to lose that no one else does.  That their circumstances Trumps everyone else's need for discretion.

I would have to agree with this rule and am uncomfortable when someone is taking out there camera to film just themselves. If I take a pic of myself and my date then I will inform those surrounding us that the camera is NOT facing them but just facing me and my date. My privacy means a lot more than other people's circumstances. Most here know why I feel that way.
