Thought Trump was going end the war on day one.

Gas just went up 30cents last week.

But we got rid of the penny.

If Trump wanted to he could end the war in one day! God took 6 days to create everything.  The penny will remain in circulation long after we die.  They stop coining pennies because they cost way more to produce than they are worth.  People pay at stores using plastic so someday all coins and notes may stop being produced saving billions of dollars.

you don't know what you are talking about. go to any store and watch how many pay with cash and get pennies back. the supply will run out. Then what? round up or down. 3.23 billion pennies made last year.

A lot of places already round up on change returned.  I rarely get penny change anymore.  Heck, a lot of places round up to the dime even.   I got no problem with the penny being discontinued.  Go to any self vacuum car wash, there are tons of pennies on the ground.  They are worthless.

Saying something COULD have happened is ridiculous because it DIDN'T and no one can revisit the past to find out.

Other countries such as Canada got rid of their penny equivalent long ago and yes they round up or down to the next 5 cent-equivalent amount.  Rounding up or down will even out unless all stores price things ending in 0.03 in order to make an extra 2 cents per purchase.  Perhaps there should be a law that a price must end in 0.00 or 0.05 to keep the penny pinchers (who may need to become nickel pinchers) from complaining.

Finding a heads up penny on the sidewalk is suppose to bring you luck. If it is tails up don't bother to bend over to pick it up.

Having a law that places prices to a nickle is easy enough to do, but add taxes to various items as a percentage, makes purchase prices still variable, Unless Uncle Sam is willing to round down too.

Hey, we round to the nearest whole dollar for income tax purposes. I don't see why we couldn't do the same with sales taxes.
