One person's (or country's) thug is another's hostage or hero.  (re: Israel-Hamas)
Depends on your ideology although one would hope the law would be a better guide than ideology.
Some of Trump's "associates" (or are they co-conspirators?) were convicted and went to jail.
They were not kidnapped.

My guess is many of those who publically support Trump because they are paid to support him wont vote for him.
