Some right-wingers have tried to play word games by claiming that Trump's conviction won't be complete until he's sentenced. I don't know where this comes from, but it's bullshit by any standard usage of the term.

A defendant must be convicted before he is sentenced; the sentencing is a consequence of a conviction.
