The good people who fall for the con man Trump just amazes me. They see the glass is empty, but Trump tells them it's full over and over and eventually...  They say it's full.

I can't grasp the power he has over very bright and intelligent people who truly believe they are thinking for themselves.

A con man like this happens once in a generation.    I have faith in the American voter to ultimately make the right decision but this con man does cause me concern.
We all got two lives, the second one begins when you realize you only have one.

During WWII, the CIA conducted a psychological analysis of Hitler. Here's a small part of what they wrote:

"[Those charged with eradicating Hitler] will realize that the madness of the Fuehrer has become the madness of a nation, if not of a large part of the continent. They will realize that these are not wholly the actions of a single individual but that a reciprocal relationship exists between the Fuehrer and the people and that the madness of the one stimulates and flows into the other and vice versa. It was not only Hitler, the madman, who created German madness, but German madness which created Hitler."

Trump is a long way from Hitler. But a psychological parallel can be drawn. Republicans planning on re-election wouldn't have to be afraid of crossing Trump if the voters in their districts weren't part of the Trump "madness."

We should all cross-check the information we receive. It's not difficult when you have the entire internet in your pocket. If it can't be verified to your satisfaction, you move on. Simple.

So what about something like this, broadcast on Fox News this morning but coming from Trump himself? It's not the first time he's talked about schools performing transgender surgery on children.

Start at 00:57. Is this plausible to anyone?

Speaking of providing accurate sources that clip does not say SCHOOLS do the surgery.
It says "they" which hopefully means doctors in an operating room.

I've got so bad about knowing facts I sometimes do not believe things unless I personally witness them.
(which actually is QUITE useful with regard to identifying misleading or fake provider ads)
Most of the nonsense that is on the news does not affect me so I don't care.
Once it affects me then I'll look into potential reasons.

Trump was replying to a question from a man who said he has a five-year-old son in a public school in the Bronx. The man asked Trump what he would do to improve the school system.

After the usual nonsense about how he would dismantle the Department of Education, he said, of schools:

"No transgender, no operations, you know they take your kid...there are some places your boy leaves to school, comes back a girl. Okay. Without parental consent! What is that all about?"

The clear implication is that schools are taking people's children and having gender-affirming surgery performed on them, so the next time you see them, they've been transformed from a boy to a girl or vice-versa.

He doesn't specify who's doing the surgery because it doesn't matter when his tale is such obvious bullshit.

Thanks for the fact-check. /s

It doesn't matter if they are democrats or republican...they are all CROOKS!

This is a big reason the election is as close as it is. People don't seem to think it matters whether we vote for a literal traitor and wannabe dictator or a normal dishonest politician. It's so exhausting.

The reason they are all crooks is because we have allowed it.

They tried.  There wasn't enough votes.

They failed to do their jobs. They all signed oaths of impartiality and then promptly decided those oaths meant nothing. In not voting to convict, they also betrayed their oath to the constitution.

The thing is, nearly all of them knew better. But their personal ambition was worth more than their moral obligation.

I read between the lines as opposed to taking the words literally... you view it as misinformation, I view it as exaggeration.  It's not far off from what happens. He is making his point without a script, so he says shit off the cuff...

My take is that he's referring to this.
Type of crap

The sad thing is that none of them called out the utter ridiculousness of Trump's lie. Send a boy to school in the morning and your child comes back a girl at the end of the day without any parental consent.

Misinformation misleads (lying), while exaggeration stretches the truth (hyperbole). This sounds like the hackneyed excuse of "Trump being Trump" to laugh off his crazy shit. The man is seeking to be president not a comedian on Comedy Central. Words matter. Trump LITERAL said on numerous occasions ...illegal Haitian immigrants are eating the dogs and eating the cats. His words (blatant lies) put people's lives at risk, but Trump doesn't give a fuck about the harm he causes.

Your link leads to an article about California became the first U.S. state to bar school districts from requiring staff to notify parents of their child's gender identification change. The law bans school rules requiring teachers and other staff to disclose a student's gender identity or sexual orientation to any other person without the child's permission. Proponents of the legislation say it will help protect LGBTQ+ students who live in unwelcoming households. But opponents say it will hinder schools' ability to be more transparent with parents.

We can have a debate on whether this is a good policy or not. However, it would seem preposterous to equate gender identity POLICY with gender conforming SURGERY performed by school staff.
