He still won't want to, or possibly legally need to testify. He can assert that the pardon was for FEDERAL charges and that if he testifies it leaves him open to STATE charges, thus, his Fifth Amendment rights would still be applicable (because you know that if blocked Republicans WILL go after him on state charges).
