Snopes RatingUnproven This rating applies to a claim for which we have examined the available evidence but could not arrive at a true or false determination, meaning the evidence is inconclusive or self-contradictory.

The quote was also tweeted in the past by right-wing activists Jack Posobiec, Charlie Kirk, Ryan Fournier, and the Libs of TikTok account, as well as Donald Trump Jr., the Trump War Room account, former Trump campaign foreign policy adviser George Papadopoulos, and former Trump White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany. This quote was first reported by Politico on Jan. 17, 2020, just days before the Iowa caucuses, where Biden came in fourth place. The article cited an anonymous source for the remark (quote).

Trump will inherit an economy primed for growth. The unemployment rate is low, inflation is easing, a ready-made list of infrastructure projects that can be realized over the next several years. So, we can hope Trump doesn't fuck things up. Link

In any event, people's feelings about Biden, pro or con, doesn't really matter now. The important thing now is what Trump is going to do.

Quote from: thaikhan on Dec 15, 2024, 02:29 AMAnd that's why Democrats lost the election. But they'll never learn because as you said, they've disconnected their brains and believed in all the lies their leaders told them. It must be a blessing to be told what to say and think and not have to take responsibility for your own actions and fuckups in life. "It's Trump's fault I'm sad and lonely.  It's Trump's fault my family hates me. It's Trump's fault President Biden has dementia. It's Trump's fault Kamala Harris lost the election"

Again, you blame those who DID NOT VOTE for him above those WHO DID VOTE for him.

It doesn't matter what the liberal policies are, the people who put that X next to his name are the first and primary cause of his being elected.

America has spoken.  The majorjty did not like the high prices we have to pay out and blamed Biden and Harris.  Right or wrong the best we can do is to go along with Trumps plans instead of sabatoge.  If Trump tries to do something illegal the matter will windup in federal court.  I would like to see us come together and support our leaders instead of the internal fighting between political parties. When our leaders fight nothing gets done and money is wasted.  The time to sound off and make your voice heard is just before elections.  Mean while sit back keep open mind and relax.

Quote from: bats on Dec 15, 2024, 11:33 AMNice try, but the alternative to attributing Trump's victory to people's inability to sort through a sea of lies and misinformation is to assume they are as depraved as Trump. I don't believe that.

Besides, we know voters on both sides can be irrational. A current example is that they blame inflation on whoever was in office when it happened, ignoring that such economic impacts almost always result from events outside a president's control.

Again, it's hilarious and pathetic that the rationale of the left is that others voted for Trump because they're either stupid or depraved lunatics. That's our the right saying all this who voted for Biden are blind, stupid, and okay with pedophile behavior. According to your logic, it must be true then. I can see being delusional is common with fanatical liberals and conservatives.

Again, it's a prime example of why Democrats lost the election. They fed their party more bullshit than the conservatives and only the most ardent and fervorous ate it up. The rest realized how delusional their take was and went with the lesser of the two evils. It's sad that we live in a time of lowered expectations and delusions that people still try to justify why they're being fooled. Religion needs to take a page out of Politics on how to gain blind, loyal servants as they've been losing ground the last few decades. It's like Stockholm Syndrome has taken grasp of people and they've become hardcore cultists, transformed into flies, eating the shit their masters are shoveling them

I didn't say Trump voters are stupid or that they are depraved lunatics. To elaborate just a bit so that you might understand, I said that if they voted for Trump, then either (1) their ability to sift through misinformation is lacking, OR (2) they're bad Americans, just as Trump is. And I made it clear (I thought) that I don't believe Trump voters, generally speaking, are bad Americans.

I say they're unable to sift through misinformation because Trump's unfitness for office should be evident to anyone who has such an ability. Almost all the Republicans in Congress know it, but they also know their voters don't know it.

But I don't know why I'm trying to clarify my point when the person I'm addressing seems to believe that having an opinion is equated with being a fanatic.

Back in November 19th, almost a month ago.
Quote from: thaikhan on Nov 19, 2024, 01:35 AMOne of the sad reasons why Trump was elected gain.  Trump didn't win; the Democrats lost and the people are now over-correcting by choosing the lesser of two evils.  Democrats don't want to learn and Republicans only won because people were so sick of far left Democrats.  The best part is how each party has gotten their sheep to buy into their scam as if they were one of the wolves and not a sheep.

Quote from: HighStepper on Nov 19, 2024, 01:42 PMThe people that incorrectly forecasted what the election results would be, are now telling us why the elections resulted as they did. So I guess your speculations are as good as anybody else's.

Yes, I copied and pasted almost everything bats said word for word. It's funny how you conveniently overlook that I was pointing out his hypocrisy. Which again further proves my point how Democrats like to twist reality and blame others. I'm just waiting for Democrats to start screaming the Grass is Blue literally again. Or when will they start blaming everyone else for why they have sad, lovely, pathetic lives where they have no friends and none of their family likes them. Where they have no rights of their own because they need to agree with everyone else in fear that they will not be liked. Which is sad because that behavior is why they aren't. It's sad that people on both sides of the aisle do this when they're the ones who are most alike

Bro, please re-read what you've written above. In your view, apparently, not only am I being hypocritical, but I'm also living a sad, lonely, pathetic life with no friends and no family who likes me. And on and on.

I don't dislike you, but this is crap. Where does it come from?

thaikhan

Hey, you started it. If you don't like crazy, delusional talk, don't start it. You seem to believe it's okay to take liberties on how conservatives are, why can't I take those same liberties in describing how Democrats and Conservatives are? I'm making general statements on how I believe they are but you seem to be taking it personally. Why are you allowed to talk out of your ass and make up shit about how the opposition is and others are not. Is this the White Privilege you so speak of?

I'm not making shit up. The people you call "conservatives" are no longer that. They've become radicals. We know this because they wish to dismantle the American system of government.

That's not my opinion. That's the stated goal of the MAGAs. Many may not understand or believe it, but that's what they support because of all the propaganda.

If I take your comments personally, it's because you've said specific, stupid things about my life, about which you know nothing. There comes a point when I feel like I need to defend myself, and we've reached that point.

I'm done with this idiocy unless you continue to make it personal.

thaikhan

I've never once made it personal. You took it personal. If you believe yourself to represent all Democrats and Republicans (those whom I besmirched) then so be it. I cannot stop you from thinking that. However, you seem to think that because a few people think a certain way, you take it as all people who voted for Trump must think that way. You are okay with generalizations but not when it's about your party. Like you, I am making generalizations about both parties as I'm not a fan of either party. Get over yourself. That IS directed towards you.

It is the man in the middle style argument or bothsiderism. A man in the middle believes that everybody is wrong and only they are right and they are there to point it out to everyone. And it doesn't matter whether or not what they say is true or not, you're always wrong because you're not them.

The problem with the man in the middle is they usually aren't anywhere near the middle. It's usually very obvious that they are for one side or the other even though they will insist they are not

But you can look and see there is always a clear pattern with man in the middle people. There's always one side that is causing all the problems and there's only a token "oh yeah, the other side is bad too" that is given. Also typically the side that the man in the middle is on is the one that most people won't want to admit to being on therefore, being in the middle gives them perfect cover to say whatever it is they want and not be attacked as those on that other side usually are. Because after all they hate both sides, right?

Typically, it's almost impossible to have a discussion with a man in the middle because it will change from whatever it is that they've decided to rant about to you personally, because at their heart a man at the middle style of arguing just ends up being trolling and that's what trolls do...

"Impartiality does an indispensable service to democracy, whereas bothsidesism does a serious disservice, allowing for the ventilation of lies, hate speech and conspiracy theories, on the spurious ground they represent another, equally valid, side of the story."

"In cases like this, bothsidesism does immense damage to democratic discourse: it creates a false equivalence between two sides, where the weight of evidence is clearly on one side and not the other.

Impartiality, by contrast, does not permit such intellectual dysfunction.

Impartiality has six components: accuracy, fairness, balance, openmindedness, integrity and fidelity to news values. They are all important. But the one that distinguishes impartiality from bothsidesism most clearly is balance."
