removing Chaparral from those hills wouldn't of helped one bit. It gets replaced with grass that is more hazardous

Oh so they should not do anything and just wait for the disaster to occur.  I bet those who lost their homes would have liked to know they were living in a high risk wildfire area so they could have sold their homes before they became victims.

Control burning they don't burn large areas.  They burn to develop fire breaks so fire fighters may have a chance in controlling the wildfire.  Sometimes the wind is to powerful sometimes the wind cooperates. California could have but didn't do what could be done to prevent this fire and  the wind so powerful like what happened unavoidable.  But had there been action taken before the fire I would not blame the Democrats for their piss poor management.

How many here think the governor wasn't aware of the fire danger to Palicades long before this happened.  From working in state government I know scenarios are played out all the time.  They perform computer model simulations to identify and see what could be done to prevent or lower risk.  In this case all they would need to do is to run various computer simulations putting in fuel load and wind speed along with other factors to see the end result. Should the governor knowing a particular area is subject to out of control wildfire should residents be informed like they do for flooding and earth quakes? Computer simulations are very accurate and can be relied upon.

the Chief said a fire break 10 lanes wide wouldn't of stopped this fire.

Of course it wouldn't.  But this comment is after the fact.  Did they know ahead of time a fire could break out and be driven by 80 mph winds so decided to do nothing because there was nothing they could do to prevent this?

Jesus, An earthquake could hit too.  Could the governor know in advance what might happen? Sure.  Could anyone expect the governor to warn people ahead of time to sell their homes and move away? Then blame him when they don't?

Where is personal responsibility and freedom of choice?

If you build or buy homes in the woods, on a mountain side or on a fault. It's your choice and you are responsible.  Not the firemen or the government.
We all got two lives, the second one begins when you realize you only have one.

If you listen to right-wingers, we're all damn fools to begin with for living in this poorly run shithole of a Democratic state. They are such snowflakes. lol

Oh come on don't be silly.  Earthquakes?  You can't predict earth quakes.  If your neighbor had tons of dried weeds and trash next to their house and caught fire having a 80 mph winds blow embers on to your house would you say it wasn't their fault because they had no control of the wind?  Of course not, and your insurance company rightfully so would sue them for all the damages to your property for failure to keep their yard fire free.

Now if they kept their yard clean and for some reason their house caught fire and spread to your home then there may be no fault.  Shit Happens!

The unstoppable Santa Ana winds, that have been blowing forever notwithstanding, were just an innocent contributor to this devastation.  The people who started these fires just used the tools available to them to create the most harm possible.

It is clearly Democrat policies in this state that contribute to this kind of catastrophe.  Who started the fires?  I'm not sure we'll ever know, but we do know that they know, that this whole fucking state is not prepared for this kind of disaster.  Would better forest management help?  Do you really have to ask?  Would more water storage help?  Do you really have to ask?  Why isn't this state a MODEL for all other states to follow when it comes to natural disaster mitigation?  Because Democrat policies will never allow that to happen.

Remember the Oroville dam spillway debacle?  Gov Brown had the studies on his desk (in a drawer, trash can, under the desk, in the basement..) of the possible impending disaster that could plague that spillway if something bad were to happen but he did NOTHING and spent way more money to fix it after the fact than staying ahead of it—sound familiar?  It's shit like this that makes me sad for MY state, once beautiful, once proud and now the shithole of the country.

Leave? Naw, I'm going to continue to vote conservative until enough normal people step up and vote conservative and take back this state from the brink of destruction.  The people from LA will have to do it from their bright and shiny new 15 minute cities once the land grab is finished.  Don't doubt me.
