I am having financial issues!

I have limited income being retired. I managed to get myself in a mess. I don't want to make income from this site. This site belongs to all participating members and who knows maybe someday will grow to be a popular site with many members.

And if we have enough money we can hire someone who knows how to build and program a website so we have ads and honest reviews...

What I am thinking is to set up a go fund me so members can donate money to the site.  I would then send the money to our web host to credit our site for years and years to come.  I would post screen shots of the sites credit so every knows the site has been funded. What do you think?

My experience with GoFundMe is limited. Last year I donated money to a cause, at check out when you submit they add on a rather large "tip." You have to manually change their system generated tip to an amount that you think makes sense.

Perhaps think how much money you need to maintain the site in accordance to you vision. Then maybe divide that number by 15 to get that many people to make a prorated donation.

For me I would be ok with sending you a check. Others may be willing to do it by money order to keep their personal information out of it.

I won't set a fee. If I ask for donations members can donate what they can afford and think is fair.  I'm holding off for now..

I agree with the others. I'd be willing to contribute, just need to know how to do it. Go fund me is one option but then there is the issue for some people of paying the middle man. If someone prefers to contribute by money order or check, maybe you could request anyone who is willing to contribute something that way should send you a DM and you could return instructions for where to send.

You shouldn't have to shoulder the financial burden by yourself.

Happy to put money towards keeping things I like around. People are gonna whine no matter what payment method you choose though. Go with whatever requires the least maintenance from you and make MINIMAL exceptions from people who are in your inner circle. People will always ask for more when you give them some.

Why not consider Throne since it is currently SW friendly and people do not need to create a login to use it?

If had the money I would pay someone to build this website into something much better and PD off the map.  We would have nice ads and honest reviews.
