Since the late 1940's the United States has been at the forefront of defending the world for democracy. America was the architect in building the Western Word as a free democratic alliance, to maintain sovereignty, prosperity, peace and repel to aggression from dictators.

For the U.S. to be flipping to support a dictator has been a shock to countries all around the world. Western allies are for now in a bind. For decades democratic countries have relied on the U.S. for their security. They have accepted the U.S. leadership in the world. These countries will need to determine what will be their path going forward.

These countries are going to have to move away from the U.S. sphere of influence. There will need to figure out how to make their way in the world without America. They will need to forge new alliances and get along better with China. The American President, under Donald Trump, is NO longer the leader of the free world. Just as the influences of the Roman Empire and the British Empire faded away from world dominance, so is the American influence in the world, starting to fade.

France will have to step up until our policies flip back?

In less than a month the second Trump administration has shitcanned decades of American power and influence in service of nothing more than his damaged ego. To the rest of the democratic world, America is now no more reliable than Putin.

This "America First" bullshit makes us weaker, not stronger, because our former democratic allies know they can no longer trust us. The wide-ranging effects, diplomatically, economically, and culturally, are likely to be disastrous for anyone who isn't a fucking billionaire.

But, hey, at least we're getting rid of DEI initiatives.
