Judge Engoron -BREAKING: TRUMP TO PAY $362 MILLION FOR FRAUD.  Banned from NY business for 3 years   Judge Engoron issues decision after NY AG civil fraud case.  He killed Trump's empire today.  He is guilty of fraud and his money is running out.  How any human could support this orange idiot tells me everything about them.

 :)  :)  :)

Watch trump get all his idiots to murder more, start riots, sacrifice themselves for their murdering false god.  They all need to go to Russia and feel the putin dictatorship experience.  All the cry babies will be crying more with their empty bank accounts.

I am NOT a Trump fan.  He is a vile human being.  That being said, Why was he fined $300 for a "fraud" where absolutely no one was defrauded?  Why is it a good thing that the law is perverted to "get" a political enemy?  I say it is not a good thing and is the start of the end.

It was $355 million:

As to your question: it's purely political because everyone inflates what their worth including Elon Musk.

My limited understanding is that the statute Trump was found to have violated provides for sanctions for behavior so persistent that it "creates an atmosphere conducive to fraud."

Thus, where a bad actor such as Trump intentionally and repeatedly operates in a way that gives his business an unfair advantage, even if no one stepped up to say they'd been victimized, the statute protects the community and the marketplace from fraudulent business practices that RL seems to think are perfectly normal and acceptable.

It is normal and no one was victimized by Trump inflating his wealth. It's no wonder that so many corporations are moving to red states that are business friendly, Musk moved his SpaceX HQ to Texas after a recent ruling in Delaware.

Trump was found liable for unlawfully inflating his wealth and manipulating the value of properties to obtain more favorable bank loans or insurance terms.

Lying on financial documents is a crime

Other businesses were victimized, even if only indirectly. When one company gets loans on more favorable terms by overstating the value of its assets, other companies pay the price.

It works the same way in taxation. When one taxpayer defrauds the system, the rest of us pay the cost.

Trump should just move his HQ to Florida and tell NY to f..k off, he moved there in 2019 and Florida is the #1 state NYers are moving to.

No it's not, it's a crime to lie on state or federal forms(eg applying for a DL, registering to vote, buying a firearm). That's why this case was in civil court and not a criminal court.

Making false financial statements may seem like a relatively narrow type of crime, but fraudulent financial statements can take many forms. Some examples include:

Lying on a written loan or credit application about your income and expenses, then affixing your name certifying that the information is accurate;
Providing doctored bank statements or business financial statements to prove your income to a loan officer, landlord, etc.
Using a fake name, fake business name, or phony Social Security Number on a loan application;
Filling out a business loan application while falsely posing as an authorized representative of the company;
Providing false information regarding your business income and expenses when applying for a business loan, grant, or venture capital;
Providing false financial information as the guarantor of someone else's loan application.
WHAT ARE THE PENALTIES FOR PENAL CODE 532(A)1 PC?
Making a false financial statement is a "wobbler" offense in California, meaning it may be prosecuted either as a misdemeanor or a felony. The type of charge will depend on the circumstances and nature of the offense discussed below.

If you present false financial information about yourself or your company, you'll likely face misdemeanor charges, resulting in up to 6 months in jail and fines up to $1000 if convicted.

So....yes, yes it is...And if California it is, it will be the same in New York. Oh wait, it is:

FALSIFYING BUSINESS RECORDS: PENALTIES AND PUNISHMENT
Like every other statute found in the Penal Law, the criminal consequences and penalties of a conviction for either PL 175.05 or PL 175.10 is significant ranging from probation and community service to fines and incarceration. A conviction for the misdemeanor crime is punishable by as long as one year in jail while the class "E" felony offense has a potential penalty of up to four years in prison.

What he did was much more egregious, thus the higher fines

American was and still is victimized by Trump inflating his wealth.  He shows all his following thieves how to steal and lie.  Trump has stolen their souls who will have nothing in the end.  He don't care about his magas or GOP.  I'm waiting for Trump to describe how he will exeecute Biden.  Tucker Carlson said, Leaders have the right to kill if they want.

Trucker is not a journalist and a traitor just like trump.

JFC. It was in civil court because that's where the AG chose to bring it. It doesn't mean there isn't evidence of criminal wrongdoing, but bringing criminal charges can be more challenging.

And let's not forget that the Trump Organization was found guilty of tax fraud, while Trump's former campaign manager was found guilty of bank fraud (i.e., lying on financial documents) among other felonies.
