I moved to Pahrump Nv last Oct 2021 from the Central Valley. I bought a home on an acre with a private well. Located about 60 minutes more or less from Las Vegas.  Pahrump has a population of about 43,000. Has Casinos and Two Brothels, Walmart, Home Depot, Big 5, Fast Food Chains. The weather so far has been really good. It does get windy here and it is a dry climate. Doesn't get any colder or warmer than it does in the Central Valley. Not much rain to speak of but when it does there can be flash flooding. I am located about 5 miles south of the main center of Pahrump. Pretty easy laid back here, that I like.

Pahrump is a fun town. I had a great time at Sheri's a few years ago. Found a lady who apparently didn't get as much business as the others so she was most appreciative when I chose to be with her. She put an incredible amount of passion into our time. Whew! Great memory.

Anyone remember Heidi Fleiss aka Hollywood Madame who made headlines back in the 90s?  Well she has gone to the birds, literally!  She raises McCall parrots. She has lived here for about 11 years or so, but last reports say she is moving to Missouri with her birds. Her parrots fly free and some have been caught, tortured and shot so she is moving out. Like it would be any safer in Missouri.... Good Luck!

Interesting. Interesting. Somehow I don't think you are going to miss her, lol.

Hollywood Madam' Heidi Fleiss plans to leave Nevada after pet parrot shot

According to the article she was friends with Dennis Hoff, now deceased.

I don't agree with Fleiss on not caging birds for transport. To keep the animal safe during transport is vital, movement needs to minimized and rest periods often.  Leaving the birds loose to fly around inside a bus may not be safe or smart should the bus suddenly has to stop or the birds start flying inside crashing into walls and windows.  I believe the birds should not be kept in small cages as permanent.  A bird that size needs a cage 20 feet tall 30 to 50 feet wide and 50-100 feet long. Keeping the birds restricted protects them and keeps them safe from predators. Captivity birds don't need to search for food and water, all they require is space large enough to fly getting some exercise. I have never met her, I know where she lives though, on the opposite of town from me.

I realize this is off the original topic of this thread, but the mention of Heidi Fleiss kindled up memories for me... I don't know how many of you remember my friend Robyn Few (I brought her to several mixers)... Robyn and Heidi were friends from way back, Robyn had shared with me quite a few stories...

She was very active and supportive of our community. I'm glad I was able to meet her.

I was out there around the 4th of July in 2000. The fireworks stands were selling the biggest rockets I had ever seen not to mention a lot of other things that fun and even life threatening. I was guessing they just point them out into the desert and let loss. But now it sounds like the town has been growing and they may have passed ordinances banning that sort of fun.
I have no problem with aging as long as I don't turn to vinegar.

Nevada is an open loaded carry and you can buy a gun the same day if you pass the background check.  I see a lot of people here in stores and around with a side arm walking around or shopping, doesn't bother me. I am thinking about buying a 9mm or something more powerful for self defense. I don't know about carrying open in public.  I do like that Nevada allows the gun to be loaded. An unloaded gun is only good for cracking walnuts.
