This is the title of an article in The Atlantic today. Even though the media is treating this as new reporting, I feel it's not new for some reason. Maybe it's because J.D. Vance was on record comparing Trump to Hitler before Vance saw the opportunity to be Trump's VP.

Anyway, in the article, there are several anecdotes about Trump's open disdain for people in the military, especially soldiers who've been wounded or killed (or, like McCain, captured).

The mystery to me is how so many Americans ignore this stuff about Trump and the military, including statements by former DOD secretary Esper and former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Milley, who have said he's dangerous. Do you not find the anecdotes "plausible?"

At the end of the article, the author recounts a conversation he once had with Jared Kushner about his father-in-law's character in light of what Trump said about McCain being captured. Kushner told him, "No one can go as low as the president. You shouldn't even try."

The author said he was confused by this until he realized that Kushner was paying his father-in-law a compliment.

Like most of his supporters, Trump seems to have almost zero knowledge of history. From the article:

A Vanity Fair interview with Donald Trump's late first wife Ivana Trump has resurfaced in which she alleges that her former spouse used to keep a book of Adolf Hitler's speeches in his bedside cabinet. Link

Trump is a con artist that plagiarizes. "Make America Great Again" comes from Ronald Regan. So, it is not surprising that Trump uses the Hitler playbook to achieve power by pandering to fear and hate.

The Republican nominee for President of the United States commented today on one of the American generals who didn't show enough personal loyalty:

If John Kelly were being misquoted, you can bet he would have set the record straight. Instead, he confirmed the quotes about Hitler's generals and added more in an on-the-record interview with the New York Times.

Way too many people think this is "fake news" or dismiss its importance. I'll never understand their foolishness.

EDIT: By the way, consider that John Kelly is a retired Marine general and that he voluntarily went to work for Trump. Then consider how reluctant a guy like him (or a guy like Milley) is to speak out about a political candidate, and the urgency he must therefore feel about this moment when Americans might well vote in the wannabe dictator again.

Bulldog Lindsey Graham said we should vote for Trump because he was shot in the ear. They have no plan to help the average American. Tariffs and national sales tax will raise prices on everything, while lowering taxes on the rich.

For whatever reason there are people that have become enamored with the "Trump phenomenon" and come up with all sorts to tortured justifications.

• That's just Trump being Trump.
• Trump is speaking figuratively you're not supposed to take him literally.
• Trump is just saying political rhetoric. He is not going to actually do the things he is saying.
• That may be what Trump said, but that is not what he meant.
• Don't like Trump's personality, but I like his policies. (What policies?)
• Trump is a businessman. America should be run like a business. (Trump got millions from daddy, 6 bankruptcies, various business frauds.)
• Prices are higher now than they were under Trump. (Trump inherited the Obama economy. With Trump tariffs and deporting farm workers/food handlers prices under Trump will be a lot higher than now.}

I watched Laura Ingraham for a few minutes today because sometimes I want to see the right-wing propaganda for myself.

Along with a couple of guests, Ingraham was talking about how the Harris campaign's "closing argument" that Trump is a fascist is a bridge too far, especially considering the TWO assassination attempts.

As discussed above, however, two highly decorated, conservative former generals have called Trump fascist. Trump himself has talked about his admiration of Hitler, not to mention Putin, Viktor Orban, and other dictators. And we're supposed to pretend that shit isn't happening?

People need to know their choices. In this election, we get to choose between a psychopath who openly admires dictators and a normal person.

I really like Walz.  He is in the know about Trump and he is worried that if Trump wins our nation and democracy will be in chaos for years to come.  Amazing how Trump when he appointed these people good people to leadership positions spoke highly of them.  Then being good honorable people got to know Trump and quit.  Trump said he fired them. Lots of people who worked for Trump quit and have said why they quit. Trump calls them weak and liars.  I will take the word of generals and honorable people over Trump's word any day.
