Presidents, current and past, have limited power to curb inflation. It is the Federal Reserve that has the biggest lever, i.e. determining interest rates.

There are contributors to inflation that you can blame on Biden and there are contributors to inflation that you can't blame on Biden. The pandemic that causes supply chain issues driving up prices.  The war in Ukraine. Inflation is now global.

Biden's stimulus package from a year ago contributed to inflation. That is on Biden. When it came to this inflationary cause, Biden may not have seen coming. Again that is on him.

Other than inflation the economy is doing well. Growth has been good, unemployment is down at record lows.  To some extent low unemployment has been pushing up wages, which in turn impacts inflation.

Finally plans for bringing down the deficit.
Too much sex is still not enough.

Here's a fact check on President Biden's inflation speech Tuesday morning. He's blaming higher prices on Covid and Putin.

Covid shut the economy completely down in April 2020. Maybe someone might remind Joe that Trump was president at the time and inflation ran 1.4 percent from the shutdown to the end of Trump's term.
Sooooooo, no Covid inflation for The Don, but plenty for Joe.

Make sense to you?

The answer, by the way, is no.

Then there's the record high gas price situation that Joe blames on bad Vlad storming into Ukraine. But wait.

When President Trump left office, a gallon of gas averaged $2.93. After a year of Biden, a gallon cost $3.75. And that was a month before Putin invaded.

Does Joe know that? Does Jill? Does Jen? Helloooooo, anyone?

We live now in the United States of Propaganda because there is no longer an honest press. Politicians say dishonest stuff all the time with few consequences.

But when it comes to your financial well-being - you should know the truth. Joe Biden's policies have badly damaged the overall economy and stimulated an inflation rate approaching 10 percent.

The stats are in stone.

So, why is there inflation in other countries like England? https://www.theguardian.com/business/2022/mar/23/uk-inflation-highest-level-in-three-decades?

Why are there higher prices for gas in Spain or every other country in the world if it's all Biden's fault? https://tradingeconomics.com/spain/gasoline-prices

Could it be because those things are just being used as lies for Republican politicians?

Oh, and as someone who was out on the roads delivering food to those who were shut in during the pandemic, I can tell you why gas was lower during the last part of Trump's term. It was because NOBODY WAS DRIVING! You know, the capitalist creed, lower demand and prices go down?

And before you say covid had nothing to do with it and prices hadn't gone up when the lockdowns were released:

U.S. regular retail gasoline prices averaged $2.17 per gallon (gal) in 2020, 44 cents/gal (17%) lower than in 2019 and the lowest annual average since 2016.

So when Trump left office oh look, gas had gone up almost as much from 2020 to 2021, which you indicated showed a failure in Presidential policies.

When did England, Spain, and other Euro countries you listed become major oil producers and oil-exporting? They import not export. The US is a major oil producer, not a consumer. During the Trump first 3 years of Trump, the economy was stable and doing good. Inflation was low, unemployment was low, the stock market was doing good and Russia was quiet. Biden comes to office and the country blew up and went to hell starting on day one of Biden being sworn. Can't blame it all on Covid and Russia! Either you are too dumb to understand the facts or don't understand where Biden went wrong.

The post I quoted originally was a fact check and that is what I was responding to, and the "facts" that were not, not what you want to drag the conversation to now.

This doesn't seem like an exaggeration at all.

New York(CNN Business) ExxonMobil took at $3.4 billion charge for exiting its business in Russia in the first quarter, but it still posted sharply higher profits on high oil prices

Revenue at ExxonMobil soared 53% to $90.5 billion. Even with the charge for exiting Russia, net income doubled to $5.4 billion. And excluding special items, its income more than tripled to $8.8 billion from $2.7 billion a year earlier.

But yeah, blame Biden...

What does this have to do with the tea in China? Sort of proves that there was no fuel shortage and Russia is not to blame for the rising cost at the pump. Biden's bonehead decisions on day one by executive order to make good on promises to the green people put restrictions on US oil production and exporting caused oil futures to soar. This happened long before Russia entered the picture. High fuel cost is driving inflation up and up. Biden should fess up and stop blaming Covid and Russia for his stupidity.

What it means is that cold hard capitalism is to blame for the prices. If they were doing so well then they certainly could have lowered the prices and still made a profit. But did they do that?  No because it's the oil companies driving the price up in search of more profit not a lack of gas or policies by Biden
