Quote from: Blkfyre on Jun 24, 2022, 05:21 PMNot sure what you are saying. I didn't mention California in relation to other states, just it's own laws. As far as California laws not being respected, California doesn't have the same open carry law as say Texas and yet doesn't see California not saying the Texas law is invalid and telling people not to go there.  Could you please explain?

Just saying since we in ComiCalifornia.
California is pushing for people to come here for their needs and they will not be subject to their State laws.
How is this going to be paid for? Taxpayers? I think not.
That means California will not be acknowledging Other State laws. Can lead to other states not acknowledging California laws..

Yes the verdict today just moved this from Federal to States issues. Nothing changed overall, Just not a Federal issue.

Some California's finest protesters will be out tonight tearing it up. Crazy when nothing has changed for California.

California isn't pushing anything. They are saying you can come here, and that unfair law in whatever state they are in won't follow you (i.e.: our courts will ignore requests for prosecution or anything that goes against our laws) Uhm, people coming to California will be on their own dime, or that of their company for those that provide it. If they get an abortion it again will be on their own dime. How is it you are believing this is a taxpayer thing?

Other states are free to do what they want just as California is. That is their business, as California laws are ours.  Other states have said they won't acknowledge same-sex marriages that are valid in California. And there's nothing California can or would do about that, other than be adults and not take the immature path of not acknowledging other laws.

Nothing has changed for you, true. But for instance, in Kentucky and Louisiana, if a woman is raped (i.e.: did not consent to sex) and gets pregnant she is forced to carry her rapist's baby with no recourse unless the pregnancy threatens her life. Of course, you might think that is no change but those ladies will think differently.

You are wrong, Newsome wants them to come on our dime.
What makes this state so superior to violate laws of other states.. Residents of those states are subject to their State laws.

Just like politicians.

Finally got some judges that got it correct.
This is not a Constitutional right nor a Federal issue.
Thus it is a States issue.

California has no jurisdiction in other states as other states have no jurisdiction in California. For example...Prostitution in California is illegal, however prostitution is not in certain counties of Nevada. Another is gambling, gambling and casinos, betting etc is legal in Nevada but not in California on certain Indian land it is but not California State. So to think that if someone comes to California for an abortion from a state in which abortion is illegal their state has committed some sort of crime is unfounded... and nuts. The constitution provides for free movement within the many states. Now to take a minor in California age 17 into another state where sexual consent is 16 or 17 for the purposes of sex is illegal...or into Mexico or Canada for that matter... The Mann Act covers this...and this is a federal law transporting minors from one state or country to another.

All this bill does is prohibit California courts from having anything to do with cases arising from violations of the anti-abortion laws in other states.

Please, link us to where Newsom has said this. I must ahve missed it.

And, this is California. They are violating our laws by removing abortion. Your logic, isn't. And no, the speed limit in California is 65 in urban areas. But in Indiana it's only 55. Are you saying that as a resident of California we can go 65 there? Or, is it as soon as we hit Indiana we are subject to their laws?

Wow, you just don't know how evil WalMart, Nike, Whole Foods, and BevMo are as they oppress us and our rights... 7 miles away from the protest zone.  And by stealing these lovely new kicks, alcohol, and TVs I am doing my job in making a change... in my life. Viva la revolucion

On June 28, 2021, California Attorney General Rob Bonta announced that California will expand its prohibition on state-funded and state-sponsored travel to Arkansas, Florida, Montana, North Dakota, and West Virginia as a result of new discriminatory legislation signed into law Spring 2021.

Pushing agendas from the state against other states is something that happens all the time.  Regardless, Roe vs Wade being overturned doesn't outlaw abortion.  It means that it is not a constitutional right.  It means that states are free to what they will in regards to abortion.

I laugh about how many people were talking about listening to the government and that what we demand you put into your bodies isn't your choice ala the covid vaccine and now they're crying about pro choice again.  It's fucking sad women's right to choose have to suffer because stupid political parties are dumb, vindictive, and petty, and can only try to blame others instead of realizing they are part of the problem.

"However [political parties] may now and then answer popular ends, they are likely in the course of time and things, to become potent engines, by which cunning, ambitious, and unprincipled men will be enabled to subvert the power of the people and to usurp for themselves the reins of government, destroying afterwards the very engines which have lifted them to unjust dominion."

For reasons that should be obvious this is a terrible comparison.

Yeah it's terrible in the fact Democrats and Republicans are POS who like to think they can play with people's lives and act like they're doing the right thing.  They need to realize they aren't on high horses and waddling in shit along with their political overlords.

And despite the fact that I believe women should have a right to choose if they want to have an abortion or not, should I compare that to them walking up to a baby and murdering it?  Or do we just ignore science for when it suits us like every other good political asshat politician?

No, there are some who like to act like they're saints doing everything for the good of others regardless of what others think because they see themselves above everyone.  Many call it the Great White Savior Syndrome; I see it quite often.  I've never liked Malcolm X much but I very much understood why he did what he did and was the way he was.

"The White liberal is the worst enemy to America and the worst enemy to the Black man. Let me first explain what I mean by this White liberal. In America there's no such thing as Democrats and Republicans anymore. That's antiquated. In America you have liberals and conservatives. This is what the American political structure boils down to among Whites. The only people who are still living in the past and thinks in terms of "I'm a Democrat" or "I'm a Republican" is the American Negro. He's the one who runs around bragging about party affiliation and he's the one who sticks to the Democrat or sticks to the Republican, but White people in America are divided into two groups, liberals and Republicans...or rather, liberals and conservatives. And when you find White people vote in the political picture, they're not divided in terms of Democrats and Republicans, they're divided consistently as conservatives and as liberal. The Democrats who are conservative vote with Republicans who are conservative. Democrats who are liberals vote with Republicans who are liberals. You find this in Washington, DC. Now the White liberals aren't White people who are for independence, who are liberal, who are moral, who are ethical in their thinking, they are just a faction of White people who are jockeying for power the same as the White conservatives are a faction of White people who are jockeying for power. Now they are fighting each other for booty, for power, for prestige and the one who is the football in the game is the Negro. Twenty million Black people in this country are a political football, a political pawn an economic football, an economic pawn, a social football, a social pawn..."
