Even though Donald Trump wasn't supposed to take classified documents from the White House, he ended up committing a crime by having them kept at his Mar-a-Lago home.

Even after the former president's lawyers told him he was about to be indicted for keeping the materials, Trump, 77, still called them "my documents" and "my boxes," according to an outlet.

The businessman even asked if he could get them back from the feds, the insider revealed.

This wasn't the only time Trump said something like this, as there were "many conversations" over the last few months about the issue at hand. Trump apparently claimed it was "illegal" for him to be separated from the documents, which were taken when the FBI raided his home in August 2022. He insisted the documents belong to "me."

If republicans want fair and equal treatment then why isnt trump sitting in jail awaiting trial?  If this was any of us we would be in jail.  If trump was in jail he would not be playing games and want a speedy trial...

Based on my legal experience from watching Law and Order, prosecutors request remand if the defendant is a major flight risk. Trump has monetary resources and his own plane. He didn't even have to turn in his passport.

On the other hand, why would we want to impede his ability to leave the country? Perhaps he could go live with the Saudis.

Judge Aileen Cannon, Trump appointee and inexperienced, is questioning DOJ use of another grand jury, the one in Washington DC  that's investigating alleged mishandling of classified documents, even though Trump has already been indicted on charges by a separate grand jury in Florida.

As sitting president Trump could do whatever he wanted with the documents.  They became under control of Nation Archives when Biden was sworn in. Trump should have returned what was asked for... now he has to answer for it.
