If he offered assistance, there's no evidence of that in the article you linked. Thanks a bunch.

Another fail. This doesn't address the point you originally replied to, which was HighStepper's comment was that there was not a Trump offer of assistance that was rejected by Newsom because of lobbying by environmental groups.

Quote from: Romanticlover on Jan 17, 2025, 06:28 AMWhen Democrats are in charge and something goes wrong they always blame someone else.
"It was the fire depts fault, it was climate change, it was the water pressure, blah, blah, blah."

Remember about a decade ago when the governor of Michigan(who was a Republican) was blamed by Democrats for the lead in Flint's water? The lead pipes were installed during WWI before the governor was even born.

Remember a few years ago when that ice storm hit Texas and the power went out, the Democrats tried to blame Sen Ted Cruz(R) because he was on vacation in Mexico? A US Senator has little control over the power grid.

In this case the fires were the direct cause of letting crazy people and illegals out on the streets to start them, then not having the resources to put them out.

They don't know who or how the fire was started so making statements of how or who started the fire is bullshit.  They may never know.  My concern is nothing was done to lessen the fire load and we see the result.  Democrats can say nothing could be done because of the high winds.  Well they did nothing so did officials know there would be high winds and nothing could be done to stop the wide spread destruction so why bother?  Why spend money on something you can't stop?  I wonder which city is next?

It isn't true that nothing was done. In hindsight, you can say that more should have been done, but the only sure way to stop homes from burning in out-of-control fires is not to build them in fire-prone areas or to build them with non-combustible materials.

Tell me what was done to prevent this wildfire...not stop it but reduce the chances of growing to the massive size? I can't find anything.

Palicades wasn't built in a known fire zone.  After the ban put in place years to stop prescribe fires to clear away fire fuel decades ago the area became over burden with dead dried out vegetation. Sure even a small grass fire driven by 80 mph winds can become uncontrollable. Control burning and removing dead trees and brush is the best way to prevent out of control wild fires.

Here's an article that discusses some of what was done. You might say, "Hey, I was talking about clearing away the fuel!" Fine, but it's not accurate to say they did nothing at all, and in my opinion it's unfair to blame the Democrats when you don't know what forces were opposed to the kind of vegetation management you seem to be talking about.

Democrats have fought everything to prevent fires. They have done no preventative maintenance.  per say. We the voters passed in 2014  to fund building reservoirs in California, To date none have been built.
Let reservoirs go dry.
Took funding away that supported fire fighting.
Bottom Line Demoncrats own this.
Now, everyone wear your flags for participation... LMAO.
What have Demoncrats done for iterstructure. They for sure have not helped.

I understand that good information is hard to come by. But here's an article from 2023 that discusses the progress with the 2014 voter initiative. It's not as simple as you make it out to be. Since people might not be able to see the article if it's behind a paywall, here's an excerpt:

Proposition 1 was designed for multi-agency involvement, guaranteeing bureaucratic bottlenecks. The water storage projects are all led by local agencies, not the state. Sacramento is contributing money and, with the feds, signing off — gradually — on permits.

"It's slow going — a lot of permitting," says Lisa Lien-Mager, spokesperson for the state Natural Resources Agency. "It's not like the state just writes a check."

The rest of the Proposition 1 money is for myriad projects such as wastewater management, stormwater capture, recycling and groundwater cleanup.

Of the total bond money, $6.4 billion has been committed to projects and more than $2 billion has been spent, says Nancy Vogel, the Natural Resources Agency's deputy secretary for water. In all, 1,838 projects have been funded and 760 are completed.

The same with the high-speed rail, it got funded in 2010 but they only started to lay tracks recently.
Are we having fun yet?

I'm not disputing that. I simply provided additional context. I understand nobody gives a shit about context when knee-jerk partisan reactions are so much easier. lol

Where did the billions and billions go?  This is a high speed scam.  Democrats squander money.

Harris and Emhoff met with volunteers working for World Central Kitchen, the nonprofit organization founded by chef José Andrés that is distributing free meals in Altadena and Pacific Palisades. Then they helped distribute meals at the start of the dinner rush. Link
