Many have TDS.
State of California just passed that 50 mil of our tax money to go to Lawyers for illegal immigrants to stay in the U.S.A. , and voted themselves legal defense funds in case Trump goes after local and State politicians that are breaking Federal Law.
There was a amendment to not allow funding for convicted felons. Democrats unanimously voted the amendment down.
Democrats do not care about safety.
This meeting was originally to deal with wild land fire litigation and preparedness. They chose not to address nor pass any fire preparedness legislation.
So the Fires will continue with the States blessing..
More important issues this money could go towards, not to mention the State really does not have $$$ to be wasted.
We know they will lose, Federal Law will prevail.

People of California are PUSSIES to put up with the politicians wasting $$$$ and losing $$$$$ with no accountability.

Just whose money has Democrats in California set aside to fight Trump?  Better not be Tax Payers money... A fund like this should be donations...

Part of the Democrats' rationale is that undocumented immigrants in California pay about $8.5 billion in state and local taxes each year. In that light, $50 million seems like a good investment.

As for the worry that the funds will be used to defend violent felons, kqed.org reports:

On Monday, the authors of the bills, Sen. Scott Wiener (D–San Francisco) and Jesse Gabriel (D–Encino), published a letter to the Chief Clerk of the Assembly stating that none of the funding "is intended to be used for immigration-related services for individuals with serious or violent felony convictions."

Illegals pay sales tax but not income tax.

The problem with Cali is then Gov Brown signed a bill that forbid LE from contacting ICE which infuriated many Sheriff's.

From what I understand... If illegals are working in California the employer is deducting state federal taxes and ssi from their paychecks. For a illegal to gain employment they have fake IDs.  It's not difficult to obtain a social security number.

My daughter ownes a company that installs inspection cameras. She has a contract with Del Monte Hanford.  She said at start of tomato season Del Monte buses in 100s of Mexican laborers and when the season is over they are let go to find their own way back home.  That has to stop.

They're also using fake Soc Sec numbers.

As for migrant labor, we need them to pick crops but they are considered Temporary Agricultural Workers.

They are not temporary when they don't leave the US.  For farm workers perhaps there should be an exemption if they reside in the US and work on the farms year round.  And as employed farm labor they can't vote but can receive ssi benefits when they retire.  When crops are ready for harvest there usually a tight narrow window to harvest the crop. There should never be a problem in getting farm workers to do the work and getting the crop in on time.

I grew up on a farm and dad made me work on the farm in the summer along with Mexican labor.  Back then we didn't have air conditioning.  Be out in the fields working temps over 100 degrees.  No it wasn't fun...

The document you linked to shows that most county sheriffs who responded to the CalMatters survey about how they would operate under the Trump administration indicated they would continue to comply with state law, which apparently does allow for limited cooperation with ICE in cases of certain serious crimes.

If there are sheriffs who are "infuriated," they aren't identified in the document you linked to.
