A number of years ago, I was pulled over by LE. It could have been speeding. Since I didn't get a ticket, I don't remember exactly what he said. What was strange and I had never experienced before, after I showed him my driver's license, he asked to see my passengers ID. She was a well known provider. The home address on her license what the same as mine. He handed it back to her and we went on our way. (I had forgotten that her address was the same as mine on her license, lol)

To this day, I have no idea why he wanted to see her ID.

Generally speaking, cops can't demand ID from a passenger unless they have reasonable suspicion that the passenger is involved in illegal activity.

Did not say demand...said request.
Cops come across really crazy shit.  Cops see things every day that we might never see.

I want to make the job safer for police.  If you were riding in my car and I got stop for no reason and cop asked for everyone's ID and you said no, I would tell you to show the cop your ID or get out and walk.  I won't let a passenger in my car start a fucking bullshit ruckus.

They can also request that you stand on your head and spin like a top.

If you're not going to let me start a fucking bullshit ruckus then I'm never getting in your car again. lol

What you mean again? There was no first time.  Now that I know you cause trouble if I saw you walking I will just pass by and wave at you...lol

.....unless there is probable cause to suspect them of a crime.

I believe most officers at a traffic stop want to get through it as safely and hassel free as possible. I see my role as assisting them in meeting that goal. If you don't start no SH there won't be any IT.

I doubt the officer lost his job for wanting the id... I think if a cop asked you for your ID you would hand it over and not stand there like a fool arguing with a cop.

So, you are okay with the cop pulling the PASSENGER out of the car kicking him, holding him down with his foot at a traffic stop?

Broad police immunity probably kept the guy from being prosecuted and just fired.

Where did I say I was okay with the abuse or assault?  That's probably why the officer was fired.. duh!

No it's not okay and if it happens then see an attorney after you get out the hospital and the city.  But if you don't want to get your ass kicked don't piss off the officer.  Missing off an officer is about as stupid as a person can get.  The officer may take the time to go around the vehicle and look for other things to write you up.  Or an officer can legally haul your ass to jail for 72 hr 5150 observation saying you said something that was concerning to health and safety.  And no the police don't have to charge you with anything to hold for 72 hrs.
